A new case study tells why Google removes reviews from Google Business profiles.

https://gmbapi.com/news/google-deletes-5-star-reviews/

Key findings:
  • Inauthentic Activity: Reviews flagged as fake or promotional, especially in 5-star ratings, appear more likely to be removed.
  • Keyword-Based Detection: Repetitive or generic terms may trigger deletions.
  • Content and Tone: Extreme ratings (very positive or negative) may face closer scrutiny.

Every business is faking reviews nowadays, its an actual concern. Plus people are not putting in enough efforts to make them look like a real reviews. You can tell easily , they are fake.

Smart move OP.

I have a local guide account that only post authentic reviews but Google has even removed some of them. I wonder how many real reviews are getting removed in the process.

Yeah, some genuine reviews are also being caught in the cross-fire. Google employing better to be safe than sorry.

Frankly, if you're looking to generate fake reviews that stick, you should be investing in 2 to 3 paragraphs of content per review. Interspersed with some shorter ones, and even some no-text 5 stars. Diversify.

Google is harsh to fake reviews but some places are careful with how they post
