Hello community,

I‘m mostly a lurker here - and the first thing I want to say being here for a year: You guys and girls are amazing and a true source of inspiration.

What I always wanted to know :
How long have you been in this business? What were your first (baby) steps to get your foot in the door? And what was your method to do so?

Your answers are highly appreciated :)

Greetings
Paukerin

first month with adult, a BB guide, but stopped for 2 years now back for 6 months and starting to see some 'decent' income from IM.

7-10 years ago with AdSense.

After few years I quit fot a better job here in uk .

From this January I come back and learn a lot every day about SEO

Now I am more mature and I think will be a nice journey.

Back in 2004 with selling items with IVR (phone payments) on a webmaster marketplace, shortly after that with selling ads and links on my website network. Mostly online flash games and MSN messenger sites :p

5 years back i open ad emails, click ads and these one dollar per month things. After years I start making money on affiliate till now

I started earning from IM like 4-5 years back and then I stopped working because of my higher studies and been lazy all the time. Now I'm hitting back the same road as I'm not happy with myself doing a job and I want to be my own boss.
Let's hope for the best :)

I was making some money online online in 2010. The start was very interesting. I used to search websites where one can earn money online and tried all in my college lab.

Then I left this and have started again from last year end only.

- I have been in the business for 10 years,
- I started with affiliate marketing, making a website with a $50 budget (hosting); so I learned how do you everything myself including graphics, link building, etc, made the site, and started earning affiliate commissions after a few months,
- And I started building PBN around the first year, so about 9 years ago; since then PBN has always been my core method for ranking.

Hey, just wanted to know how did you all first started in this field and what did you had then?

When you first started into I.M., did you have a nice office with multiple monitors/wide monitors for convenience OR you worked from home with a decent beast of a workstation?

Share what you had then when you first started!

This kind of discussion is very motivating for everyone. :)

Wow you all have been there for a long time. :)

do you think it was easier to several years ago?

I worked from my college hostel on a system owned by a friend and my college lab computers.

If you compare to now, the world is at another level so are the people and technologies. As things have got more advanced, now we may think that it was a lot easier back then but it's not true, difficulties are always there you need to survive them and reach your goals.

I worked from my mom's phone as i was considered too young to own one. Then got a laptop with my earnings.

2011: PTC {Failed}
2011: Microworkers, short tasks [little success] first income of my life :D
2012: Gaming blog {success, but I need more}
2015: Movie website {failed}
2016: 18+ tube site {failed}
2017-continue: CPA [OGADS] {success}

Yes and no. One of the best things in the past was less regulations, rules and laws. I do not say that it's bad at all, some regulations/laws serve a good purpose but you could do some things easier without complying first to this and that. There are too many laws nowadays, with some crazy ones like GDPR.

On the other side: There's a lot more possible nowadays. Like @safeSEOboost I've learned everything myself, Wordpress was back then just a simple, easy blog system. All my website where custom made till 2011 when I started using Wordpress. Also learning things took lots of time because there were almost no videos/hos-to's/tutorials voor IM .

There are SO MUCH tools and resources nowadays, If you have an idea you can execute/start it today.

I used to scam (2014 i think) old farts on facebook with a sexy girl account. Banned after 3-4 months, i had a lot of fun (and money)

Started making money by selling instagram guides , reselling services and making my own bots for ig

To contribute more than one word to this thread, I actually went over this briefly in the biography section of my profile.
My journey into the world of online marketing began in 2010 with referral marketing. Health issues unfortunately forced me to cease my short-lived referral marketing venture just a year later.
However, if you piece together a lot of my older posts on BHW, I've gone over exactly what I did in greater detail.
I remember using Prizerebel. I got so much adware on my virtual machine from those surveys and programs! I used to use scripts and programs like GreaseMonkey and Roboform to do surveys faster for my measly $10 every 4 hours. Good times.
An alternative to doing surveys on the GPT sites is to send referrals to the GPT sites. That's how I started off and it can be used as a gateway to affiliate marketing.
Several years ago, I had your problem where people were flagging my posts on Yahoo Answers. At the time, I was promoting a GPT site using a referral link and I didn't really know about Internet marketing or even Black Hat World. What I did to solve my problem was use my YA account to provide honest answers to questions in specific categories in order to build up a bit of a reputation there. I then "sandwiched" posts with my affiliate link in there (and later on I would link to a poorly-designed Blogspot blog I made that had my affiliate link in it) in order to avoid being constantly flagged, because you do lose points for receiving a violation. Occasionally, if a question such as "how to make money online" appeared, I would provide a link to my Blogspot affiliate site as well as 3 other websites in order to avoid looking suspicious.

These exact methods may not work any more as I'm pretty sure the community would have caught on to it by now (or maybe not), but trying a variation of it might help.
Those were fun times. :D
