How about a feature to know whether someone read our PM or not?

Hi Mods,

I have been a successful seller in Our community for more than couple of years. I have a small suggestion to add to the features here as it will be really helpful in many ways. There are many folks requesting samples of our services. We send them a private message with the samples and other details. But most of the time we are not getting any reply from them. We are unaware that they actually read our message or not. So it would be really helpful if there is any option to know about the status of our PM. We would be eager to know whether he read it or not. Hope you will consider this suggestion and do the favor as it will help all the sellers.

You can See their Last Login so i dont think there is a need for it

While this is true, it's really not the same thing. A lot of users will login frequently, but have unread messages in there inbox ( I know I do). From a marketing standpoint, this would be a very helpful feature. In general, it would also be useful to see if someone is ignoring you (they have been logging in frequently but are not reading your messages). Good thinking OP, cheers.

Yes, there are cases - especially for sellers or even buyers - when this feature comes in handy. We had this on the old site.

This is what I'm exactly trying to say. This option will be more helpful for sellers than buyers.

This would definitely handy since it is not prudent to repeatedly PM a prospective client.

When I used to get those "the sender would like a read receipt" or however the verbiage read, I'd not allow that. I've never asked for a read receipt either when sending.

I see it as a sort of invasion of my privacy but I can see it as an option for the PM like it was in the past.

"sender would like a read receipt" says 'stalker' unless the sender is a seller trying to reach a buyer.

Plus when a PM is read doesn't always mean it is going to be replied to on the spot. However, from a sellers point of view it is helpful BUT the person reading the PM can choose not to send the receipt if they don't want to.
