HostWinds Hosting and Tech Support Review

They say I'm using to much CPU Usage, trying to figure out why this is happening my traffic isn't mass amount.

I got the same e-mail today. It really seems like its a scam to get you to upgrade to their VPS. I have only been using them for a few weeks now and think maybe its just some type of sales tactic. Will give it a few more weeks to see if the sales letters keep coming. I should have stayed with HostGator as I have been with them for years with much larger and more resource intense sites with no problem on their basic hosting.

Ya I got 1 domain that is only 2 months old there should be no reason for me using some much CPU.

I'm talking with their night time support guy now and he told me that there was a problem yesterday with one of the plugins I am using (acurax-on-click-pop-under/js.php). I have that installed on my main domain as well as several other sub_domains and I was working on all 5 sites at one time yesterday when the alleged overage occured. The support guy said it may have been just a spike in usage during that time period. I will give them the benifit of the doubt and accept that explanation as it seems to make sense. I still think its kind of slimy to send out this upsale notice so soon to new accts. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth for ever considering using them in the future. Time will tell though, I will try to refrain from working on all my sites at the same time and see if this helps.

bad service!!! anyone can suggest a better vps?

Ive been always happy with hostwinds... Peter always helps me out and i never had issues with them...

Check your plugins. I've used HostWinds for years already with rarely any problems. The only time I've encountered problems were with a malicious plugin I installed that totally fucked my bandwidth, and even though the problem was from my end, they took care of the problem for me.

I been using Hostwinds (shared hosting) for about 1 year now and always had trouble with resource usage. (sites only use html/css) i even tried putting ALL images on image hosts and still didn't solve it.
If u get lots of visitors you better get some other shared hosting.

Support was always good tho... :)
