HostWinds Hosting and Tech Support Review

    I haven't been with HostWinds very long or on BHW very long either but I feel inclined to say how much I appreciate their tech support after the fiasco of using a big name company and expecting them to give a shit about me. I'm pretty new to the web game and had a lot of questions. The hosting I was using before was pretty much no help in this area. I looked through forums and review sites to find new hosting and ended up going with HostWinds mostly because of my budget and I don't think at this moment I could be happier I did it. When I call in/ write a ticket I usually get to talk to the same tech, ChrisW. He has been very patient and kind to me as a newbie haha. I haven't had any downtime that I know of in the month I've been with them and I think that's pretty solid. Anyway, this has been my experience so far. I know it's early, so I'll probably update this thread in a few months with hopefully more of the same news. Fingers crossed.

    They say I'm using to much CPU Usage, trying to figure out why this is happening my traffic isn't mass amount.

    Crap Company, worse than godaddy. I've had a lots of trouble with this hosting provider almost from the get go, there is really too much to list really. From too much CPU usage on a wordpress blog, my accounts getting hacked twice on 2 generated passwords. One time [Both doing blackhat type of scams and mass emails] Something is suspicious with them for sure. My account is now suspended because they didn't receive the payment, when i checked my account there is still $343.18 in there, and whats so bad is that it was only one day late, some how their system failed and didn't withdraw the money from my account. Every hosting provider i've ever dealt with gave you a few days (3-7days) and gave you proper notice that your account was going to be suspended, but not hostwinds, they will suspend your account 10 mins after the due date, not giving you a chance to check and see whats wrong.I Was kind curious about reviews of hostwinds, so i googled reviews about this company and my god they have the worst reviews i've ever seen in a hosting company.

    That's not possible...........


    If you have a credit balance in your account it will automatically PAY any due invoices, the cron that does this is triggered every 15 minutes

    If your account is overdue then yes we will suspend it....you actually are given a 24 hour grace period, so if its due on the 12th, we won't suspend until the 13th. I'm sorry but if you aren't paying for the service then you will get suspended, I'm pretty sure thats the case just about anywhere.

    I took the time to look up your account, cross referencing with your username here


    Not only do you not have any active products with us, but you have never had any products with us.....ever, you have no credit balance, no invoices, and no products.

    I then ran this query on our mysql database, and you can see the results below, so there is no account in our database with the credit amount you specified ($343.18)

    MySQL returned an empty result set (i.e. zero rows). ( Query took 0.0133 sec )
    
    Why on earth would you waste your time to write this fabricated review?


    If I am mistaken and your account info on Hostwinds doesn't match your username here, and you also mistakenly said the wrong credit amount, then I am sorry for mistaking you with another client. If you will please send me a PM with the email you used when signing up then I will gladly sort out any issues you may be having with paying for your services.

    First time of my life I read a good review about HostWinds :eek: and this review seems weird...

    I have seen many complain about them. Even some friends told me that they will tell you that your wordpress blog is using too much CPU.

    Also, in my skype tumblr group one guy from Hostwinds was contacting members of the group by pm to sell his hosting. Spamming skype for selling. Anyway this guy is not on the group anymore after that.

    I've never tried their hosting and will never, I'm just telling what I see and it seems really bad. Just google them to find out what I mean.

    You won't, because 300 is in my bank account. You guys automatically withdrawn money every time for the last year, then the 26th you didn't for some reason. It Doesn't mater now though, something happen on your end where you failed to withdraw the money, then promptly suspended the account just hours after the due date without warning (who does this? i never been with a host that did that, every where i been with seem to give you like a grace period for either 3 - 7 extra days and sends you a notice that your account would be suspended if the amount is unpaid by this date). No, it was due the 26th and you suspended my account at 11.xx am on the 27th when i was posting a article.

    I went with another host after paying you the 5 bucks to get the database and files off the server, and after that finished and got my site moved over to the other host and got everything set back up, i sent the request to have my account canceled.

    And do you think i really would use my same username for accounts that is important to me? really do you think that?

    This isn't even the main reason, it was just the final straw. Plain wordpress blog, 2-3k visitors monthly, every day was getting the CPU usage warning; with basic plugins installed and numerous other complaints with the hacking on two separate occasions WITH generated passwords (i.e uVpTH8wKRn0) creating emails and sending bulk, blackhat spam emails... No spam control/detection for the email (whats the reason for this?) Site was hacked and files installed trough the FTP...... it was just one thing right after another with you guys....

    I've never had so many problems with a host before in my life... I Gave you guys over a year and i would suggest people stay away from hostwinds until they can properly fix their problems, and trust me they have many. Only good thing i can say about host winds is that they have A++++ tech support and will quickly awnser any question in a very timely manner. Run a dang virus scanner on your servers

    This is what I wrote them today -

    How am I using so much CPU ?

    This is starting to seem like a scam too me first you guys where saying I was using 4% now 8.25% after I removed allot of plugins, mobile direct script, allot of ads and many more things I'm using double the CPU something seems really fishy here.

    My traffic isn't so huge that I should be having any problems.

    I'm one of the rivals on the HostWinds as you can see on my signature and probably I should tell bad things about them. But I must admit that Peter is enthusiastic and he gives 100% to satisfy the clients
