Hostwinds down?

They've been great so far except for the outages, but being online is pretty much the most important thing you want a hosting service to do. They have good support, but come on!

I found out about being down because there was a TV show on that is very specific to one of my niches so I went to check my adsense thinking I was making good money right now and it showed 0 views and 0 clicks today! then I went to my stats page on the actual site and got "server not found"! heartbreaking.

It's 11:09 and still not up. I don't care if it's going to be an hour, but tell me an hour. If it's going to be 20min, don't tell me 5.

I hesitate to even say any of this because I know hostwinds and BHW have a relationship and I don't want anything negative in this forum.

HAHAHA I literally JUST got an email right now from hostwinds about my affiliate referrals for them for the month.
 
So far it's been 11 minutes since my post


UPdate: The master node is back online and the DNS zones are now loading you can expect full service restoration in 5-10 minutes. I will update here as well as our client area issue tracker once this is completed
 
The servers are now 100% online, if your site is still down please open a ticket
 
I think hostwinds should seriously consider a update to their server if they don't want to lose their customer. I have moved to hawkhost, haven't seen any problem so far.
 
I'm not going to argue the time because these posts are date stamped for all to see.

My sites are still down. I checked the server status on your site and it shows "shared 1" as the only shared server that is up at this time. My cpanel address starts as /shared3 so I would assume thats why I'm still not up. I don't know thats 100% the way it works, but makes sense to me.

Anyway, I'm going to wait before submitting a ticket since your site only shows one of the 3 up right now. I'm sure you're aware of it and submitting a ticket isn't going to fix it any faster.

Not sure why anyone accepts any downtime from a host.

Are they so cheap or something?
BHW itself is down/slow on a daily basis, that should tell you enough, pick a real host if you are doing anything close to serious, downtime could cost you ALOT more then the few pennies hosting costs, seriously, hosting is cheap as hell these days.
 
Back to my original question, does anyone know what the results for me and others will be as far as rankings? I'm pretty sure goog doesn't want to point people towards a page that may or may not be up. I'm thinking there will definitely be a ranking penalty but idk how much or for how long.
 
My reseller hasn't gone down yet, looking good so far. I have got a ticket open about another problem though.
 
I'm back up! Check your pages guys.

I get spidered about once an hour on average from somewhere and my last spider was at 5:39AM EDT so my best estimate is that I was down for 6hrs or so. That's just an estimate and may not be 100% accurate. I'm thinking that if no google spiders tried to visit my sites I might not have a penalty, but the chances of that are pretty slim.

Your rankings should be fine. I had the same problem recently on another website (other host) and my rankings didn't change.

My sites are working again. Server seems to be back online.
 
i would use hostgator it seems like hostwinds is just plain unreliable. theyre down way too much... my 2cents
 
they are just plain unreliable , id suggest just switch to hostgator. with all hostwind downtime its just plain headahces.
 
I recommend hostgator too, I've been with them for over 3 years, have dozens of personal sites and a client sites on my reseller account, between my clients paying me for hosting I get my server for free basically.

Over all those years I have never been down, not once. A few of my clients didn't use too good of passwords on their websites and were hacked and hostgator removed the corrupted files, to a backup restore and changed all passwords and than emailed me all the new information. All of that happened without me even having to ask and without my clients even seeing their sites messed up since hostgator did the fix the same day everything was corrupted.

You get what you pay for!
