SLA's, Lost customers, Refunds to Customers, Reputation = costs money.

Frankly I'm completely pissed off with this hosting provider. Prior to last month I had been with Site5 for 5 years. I made a migration to Host Winds a couple of months ago. I check on my websites about once a day on average.. so let's say in the last month I have checked on my business' website 30 times. Out of those 30 times, my website has been down 4 times. FOUR TIMES out of THIRTY. That is a fucking joke. This is my business' website where I get business and make money and earn a living. God knows if or how many potential customers and clients I lost last month because of Host Winds. I can't explain how pissed off I was to find my website was down for hours today. If it wasn't for the fact I spent days installing about 20 Wordpress sites and databases etc I would have already switched back. Now I'm in a catch-22 because I'll have to spend even more time (and therefore money) transferring all my sites away from Host Winds.

Not only that, but my sites are slow as shit. I messaged Host Winds about the speed of their shared hosting weeks ago and it never got sorted. My business' website was hosted on shared hosting at Site5 and my page load time was 1.4s. At Host Winds it was over 4s. Pretty sure this affected my SEO too because my site dropped after the switch.
 
p.s. isn't it all over this forum to use more than one host? Even if you split your sites 50/50 then only 50% of revenue is gone during the downtime. One day downtime isn't a lot in a year, however some people have said this is regular. I'm gussing their using coreexchange with a cage. This means they have no control over the datacenter side of stuff and I'm pritty sure they'll be getting hourly updates and having a sleepless night as it's their income too.
 
I'm in the process of transferring to a new host, as this happened again last month. however my new host is still unable to access files as my vps is still down :(
 
I don't believe this shit. My sites were down all day yesterday and I wake up to find them still down. Host Winds seriously need to sort their shit out and compensate somehow because SEOs are not people to be messed with unless Host Winds want 'hostwindsscam.com' ranking first for 'host winds'.
 
I was promised free months service when they kept going down for me but have yet to see one bit of credit. They keep charging me and keep going down... Going to have to move my stuff again and I was jsut getting it all moved to them... Any reliable places to host. I am looking at rackspace cloud or amazon.
 
You pay $3 a month for hosting...and then you complain that it's junk. Honestly...what did you expect? Enterprise Hosting?

You get what you pay for. Take a look at Rackspace or MediaTemple for example. There prices are obviously quite high, but when you factor in the fact that you get enterprise grade hosting and reliability - You get what you pay for.

Me too - and I've only been with them for 6 days!

I've paid a year in advance and registered my domain with them - going to try and get my money back, but get the feeling that I'll have to make a complaint through paypal dispute process

How does Site5 hostpro compare with hostgator baby hosting?

I went with hostwinds business hosting as I thought it would be better than hostgator baby for hosting clients mobile websites - even though I never had problems when I was with hostgator

I went for their best business hosting package on a shared server - sounded ideal for hosting clients sites

Guess you can't believe any sales pitch nowadays!

Going to try and get my money back and will probably go back to hostgator
 
After one night of sleep I would think that it would be up by now ... But it still isn't ... Why is this taking so long ???
 
If you're paying less then at least $100/month for your hosting you're probably bad at calculating probable looses in case your hosting is down, or you just don't make that much.

Please be patient, I'm sure guys doing everything to fix this and prevent it in the future.
 
Most of us pay a hell of a lot more than $3 per month and we have been down or at best flaky for the last 2 months.
 
Funny thing is, My $3 per month sites are still alive and well... Just my higher paid, mission critical sites that can't seem to keep a pulse.
 
I pay much more than $3 for my vps with them.
I pay $10 for a shared hosting plan with hostgator and they havent been down once in 5 years
 
lol at the $3-10 hosting, at the peek of my most money making website we were paying $4,000 a month. Man I thought you where complainaing about dedicated servers and high end vps's not the budget packages. I know it's still a bitch to be down but if it's that critical why don't you get two hosts, put the DNS on a low TTL and flip the sites when it goes down like this. Do none of you take backups... Jesus I been out the game for a while but it sounds like it's going backwards lol! So if your paying $6 you'll pay $12 instead and have next to ZERO downtime!

My site has suffered a lot of downtime as well over the last few months.
 
Hostwinds goes down on me so often I feel like I owe them dinner.
 
I too, will be switching once its back up. They are projecting the downtime for my server to be *hopefully* only another 24 hours. Without going on a seething rant, I will just leave it at this: I'm very upset. I know for a fact the rough estimate on what I've lost on this campaign and it's hard to swallow.
