So I want to change my hosting, I have ipage right now and they SUCK big time. The speed is ridiculously slow, for any page speed people it's constantly around 10 seconds just to the first byte. I know it's effecting my rankings, so who are some good hosts that are fast and fairly cheap/reliable that you can add wordpress?

Also, is moving my site a big deal that can affect my rankings? I never moved sites around and I know it's a good idea not too but I can't take the loading speed anymore.

Any ideas?

As you're shopping around, make sure you ask your provider if they're a "Tier 1" service provider. There's lots out there, and I'm not sure of your budget.. but here are my suggestions:

1) Rackspace. They are the best in my opinion. (don't get their cloud service though, it's just not mature enough yet).
2) Server Beach - subsidiary of Peer1. They've got some good plans for servers. I've got a couple of their servers and I don't talk to them much... which is a testament to their infrastructure.
3) Linode is fun, though I haven't hosted anything with them besides development.

Lots of opinions out there, but I'd stay away from shared hosting... it's always painful when you want to leave them.... have never heard of iPage.

I suggest you Hostgator or Hostwinds , always reliable

I use Hostwinds and they are quite inexpensive and pretty decent in terms of uptime. Excellent support as well.

Hey ibmethatswhoib, try Hostgator with this cupon "1cent" you will get a hosting 1/month per only $0,01

I would go with hawkhost, extremely fast load times and very helpfull support! CHEAP AS HELL!!!! $8/3months

Works great with my CPA + SEO venture.

I would go with hostgator I have been with them for 3 years and there really fast on loading website pages.

Just make sure you get clean IP's when you move, I ran into problems before when I switched hosting companies and all of a sudden I could send mail to certain domains.

Check the new IPs on a blacklist tool... unlocktheinbox has a good one just google the name.

If you get a VPS download the tools from passmark and run it on the server to test the hardware speed and do a speedtest on it from the browser on the vps.

I had a lot of luck when servint, they are amazing.

SEO Wise I don't think it will adversely effect your ranking, A lot of people buy abandoned/expired sites with high PR to take advantage of them.

Hostgator is hands down one of the best hosting providers out there.

I host my blogs on hostwinds, I never have a problem, excellent uptime.. and if you have questions, they answer fast.

I go with Hostgator man, top dollar , for excellent service so far

My sites are hosted with Bluehost.

I highly suggest you get an account over there and transfer your sites because
their support is really awesome and I havent really experienced any downtime.
