I'm looking to change hosting for my affiliate/content sites, can anyone recommend a good hosting company please, I keep hearing a lot about WPX and Kinsta.

WPX is quite good for affiliates. I've been using them for nearly a year and the load page time by far the best.
 
I use namecheap and exonhost. Namecheap is quite out of the game now. So my preference is exonhost. 4 of my affiliate site is hosted there.

i have always used a dedicated or VPS server. You can check out yottavps link in sig I have a server with them right now. Or dedicated you can check out nextarray.com
 
For managed VPS service and probably some of the fastest shared hosting: Cloudways likely is the #1 for its starting price

For unmanaged shared hosting, VULT HF VPS servers are amazing and well priced. Some third-party providers can manage your VPS for you, which will be cheaper in the long run.
This is what I am doing with SpinupWP (managing my Vultr HF VPS servers)

My 6$ Vult HF server blows away hosts like WP Engine, and they are competitors for WPX and Kinsta.
Some of the bigger sites just rent small VPS servers and tack on their prices and services on top of them.
 
you should go for vps instead of hosting for me vps is best for affiliate/content sites,
 
Depends on the content and your current usages you can chose shared account or VPS.
But if you are on your start find the company which provides both and sign up for shared account.
Once you need VPS you will be able to upgrade within the same company.
 
Most shared hosts with good reputation will work.
Namecheap is good.
A2 is also good.
If your site generates good traffic consider using vps.
