I asked yesterday for suggesstions about a hosting service called johnnyvps in the forum, and I send them email asking why the price of their package "Ultra-100 plan" is higher than competition (105$ vs 24$), instead of convincing me about their added values and competitive advantages, they reply like that:

still that's quite unprofessional way to treat a potential customer. They could have posted the links just like you did

@pavan,

This is true but I deal with high-end developers on a regular basis and I can tell you that the majority of them respond in that fashion.

Remember when WordPress took off?

Go back and look at those thousands of closed threads where WordPress users had genuine questions but the response they received from WP developers was along the lines of, "Nobody is going to spoon-feed you < LEARN CODING! < LEARN CSS!

The reality is - when a developer is in the GREAT and above categories, they typically take exception to individuals questioning their handiwork.

Damn, they are such badasses:) They almost made me a client just by their bad mouth:) Seems like I have some daddy issues:)) But anyhow, I still think I need technical support from time to time, so I`ll stick to the newbie friendly ones although I have a bunch of sites over the 150.000 monthly visitors count.

Unprofessional or not, it is a way to tell you they don't want the 80% of the customers... that will eat up their time...

When you are service provider, you must have to adopt some professional communication skills. But sometimes language is the barrier.
Seems like he used translator for your question and he replied accordingly.

You are comparing a free product with a subscription. Good developers are arrogant but developer doesn't have to answer pre sales or sales queries. Any average VA can do a better job and be more professional

I wasn't making a comparison about the products; my only objective was attempting to point out the arrogance of that level of developers.

Back during that time, I started a number of threads only to be keyboard slapped by arrogant ones... who never answered my questions.

The irony is, they ushered in their own demise as people started seeking solutions such as WP Page Builders.

Their arrogance reminded me of the clip from the movie, The Hunt For The Red October; you got to watch to the end!

@BassTrackerBoats, Seems like you ain't great at all afterall.
Gotta start being meaner ! :p

OT
Honestly, regardless of anything, that's no way to treat a customer.
Regardless how good your service is.
That's trash level customer service right there.

I think that worth continue the search and contact other providers. Market is competitive and I believe you will have enough related offers to check and learn.
Good luck!

That’s why I dealing with Wpx helped us when we were not their clients and even help us if I ask the same question tons of time lol. In similar case siteground decided to cut our support reason because you ask too many question. hones I would avoid such companies for me support should be prompt and nice op chose a better hosting

Imagine asking the same question to a restaurant. Why your menu is costlier when compared to KFC? you should have got a similar response. No amount of justification from Johnny would have satisfied you.

I confirm this.
In my opinion, I think it is because we developers often get attached with our work. Sometime emotionally even. Especially for large projects that took a lot of time.

So any seemingly unreasonable user that tries to criticize our hard work will get a SLAM BACK from that developer.

I think that's why in big companies, the Customer support is hardly ever a core developer of the product. Managers need to make sure support has no attachment to the code Lol

Thank you for sharing this with us, they seem to be unprofessional i wouldn't deal with them for sure

They could have just told him the benefits instead of being condescending. Its bad for business, unprofessional, and unnecessary.
