&%^$ hostgator

I have been updating a site like crazy recently. I put about 80% of the last 48 hours setting everything up. 100's of pages, categories, etc in WP organized, as well as some AIO SEO. Long story short HG fucked up and now everything is gone. Gotta love it! I did have a back up, just not as recent as I would of liked

This ticket was created to advise you of an issue that happened on your server earlier this morning, Dec 11th. Due to problems with the migration of this server to a more powerful chassis, we were forced to revert to the data on the old chassis, which is 2 days old. Unfortunately we are not able to restore data on the newer chassis.

If you have data that is newer than Thursday, we will be more than happy to restore this for you, just reply back and let us know.

We apologize for the inconveniences and the frustrations that this has caused. We have corrected the problem that caused this data loss and made changes so this will not happen again.

That's fucking bullshit, they should have done a backup before doing the migration. You are entitled to free hosting for at least that month. Demand that they credit your account accordingly, you should also see if you can get free daily backups from them....to make you feel at ease about continuing to host with them.

They have to pay! sorry is not enough!

You could try restoring some pages by copying stuff from google's cache

Why would you not be creating your own daily backups?

HostGator is starting to suck 4$$ lately. Turning in to another 1and1 or GoDaddy, the customers don't mean crap and they are all about the money. Used to be decent hosting company, but I don't bother hosting with them anymore.

Who are you hosting with now, if you don't mind me asking. Just incase I decide leave HostGator.

VPS with KnownHost & LiquidWeb and several shared accounts. The shared accounts are with Downtown Host, KnownHost, Cool Handle, and Arvixe.

Have been with HG for quite 4+ years now, with almost no major issues, sorry to hear about your lose, I've a friend's website which received around 30k unique per day and been hosted by LiquidWeb for around a year or so now with no problems, give them a try, best of luck
