So I just got a new client that I'm doing web development for. I'm signing him up with hostgator, but would like to do it through my CJ affiliate link so I get the $100 since I did actually refer him. So now I know Hostgator is really strict with their affiliate program and thus do not want to mess anything up since I have my own account with them and they might think I'm trying to cheat their affiliate system.

So far I want to do it by opening my affiliate link with a different web browser like firefox so that their aren't any of my cookies in there. The only problem I think that might come up is I'll be using my original paypall account to pay for the hosting since my client just gave me all the cash and wants me to handle it. Will this be a problem? Otherwise I will just have to ask my client to signup himself, or use my own credit card instead.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

The best option is to make the client pay. (or you can ask someone from your family to do that).

Just give them your affiliate link and on top of that, give them a coupon code to make sure they're under your referral.

Yeah making the client signup on their own would be the best option. ;)

If you use the same paypal and buy the hosting for your client, it can be easily detected. Create a new email, add it to your paypal and pay through that mail login.

With the coupon, you get only $50 commission. With CJ affiliate, you get $100.
Sign him up with his info since they require some proof or phone verification and make sure that you put a banner in your website and tell him to click on it to get redirectd to hostgator.
I prefer coupons (set up your own) to make sure that you get the commission for sure even $50 and they send a notice about that.
