I only used one company but I think tmdhosting is really good. They are relatively cheap, have fast servers (you have to request an update from php 5 something to 7 though, its free), great support (f.ex. I wasnt getting an ssl connection for my website and I just wrote them so they fixed it really fast). You can host nearly anything (adult sites, sites about drugs). They even told me you can host a cannabis site and use cannabis seed affiliate programs. And on top of that they automatically backup your website once a week I think (I dont remember anymore on how often, dont quote me on that).
But yeah. its the only hosting company I have been with so maybe I just dont know enough yet to give a good opinion.

Namecheap is ok. As others said the marketplace here has hundreds of alternatives.

Other than that, there are tons of alternatives to Host Gator. Just look inside the marketplace section. You might want to be more specific in your research, like total domain names that you need, DMCA ignored hosting, the type of payment processors accepted other than Paypal etc.

You can always google it and see the different host that come up. You might also check to make sure the host that you are looking at are not part of EIG.
