Honesty Does Pay.

The extra meat was more than likely a honest mistake
But the way the person you spoke to handled it was very smart and professional
he used a very common marketing tactic to secure a customer and get free word of mouth referrals (which it pretty much what you are doing right now)
I did it in Amazon all the time.

I think they did it for sanitary reasons, they can't guarantee it's safe once it's out... but the refund was nice though!
