i'm selling an item for 8.99$ and they charged 1.08 as a seller fee and paypal took 0.72, isn't this kinda high ? almost 2 dollars just in fees.

I'm shocked people even still use eBay. I definitely couldn't figure out a way to turn a profit using ebay without stealing shit off the back of trucks. I am a bit slow though.

Yeah Ebay does hurt your profit and overseas sellers pretty much killed it for USA sellers

There’s plenty of those on the dark web. It won’t work mainstream until crypto becomes mainstream. And even then, the site operators will end up charging fees.

Yes, they are high. I have been selling on there for the past like 3 months and right now I am in a bind with money which has caused me to realize that at this point in time it's really not worth selling on eBay.
Was talking to my SO the other day about this and he was saying selling on eBay is really only worth it if you are selling the high dollar items, like mobile phones, laptops, etc.
I sell mostly clothes. I was selling Toys'R US toys before the store closed but now just clothes. And I realize that I am not really making much. Especially when I have an item set up for auction starting anywhere between .99-$1.99 with about 3.99-4.99 shipping. People bid on the items and generally it's only one or two people so the bid doesn't go up much. In that case the item purchased ends up really only paying the cost of shipping and then all the friggin' fees are taken out. So, this month I'm actually taking a 'break' from selling on eBay cuz the fees are killin' me, so I feel ya!

I have always been in awe at the fees they charge. Look at it this way, if you had a captive "buying" audience how much would you sell access to that at? It makes me determined to one day become an eBay style site owner where people just default to as the normal thing to do. Imagine the POWER

eBay is the MySpace of MMO opportunities. Before their price gouging fee structure, a lot of people would bid, fewer auctions would fail, fewer people were reversing their Paypal payments for no good reason. Etc, Etc. It's not dead yet, but somebody should turn off the life support.

I used to buy from eBay a lot but once i tried sell something and they ripped me off with this fees/shipping then costumer returned had to pay for shipping again and refund all money on top

For me ebay its too full of China people that can sell at low....8 year ago when i start on ebay we can sell a good price n no way with ebay charger. Now no way to sell in that market... only high niche products
The fees are high, so it's hard to make any money with low price items unless you have great margins, therefore you need to either find better margin items or deal with higher priced items. Personally, I will not sell anything on eBay unless I can make at least $10.00!
