Holy crap I stink at cold calling

I haven't cold called in ages, I hope the best for you, I used to suck at it lol

Cold Calling is the most fucked up thing in the world. I do like the idea in this thread about asking questions first. I should've done that.

Cold calling is dead. Sure there are people that make some money doing these ancient rituals, but how are they living? Stressed out, frustrated, full of negativity and only a fraction of potential winnings for their effort. There are no elite cold callers, once you get good at it you move up and place others beneath you to filter out the list and shield you from negativity.

To give you a better perspective, cold calling is phone spam. Your offline marketings efforts are good. What you want to do it generate warm leads so that you can follow up and close.

Marketing and sales are always evolving, you have to stay on top of your game to compete.

Is this a joke post?
Also try not to bump dead threads.

No, this is not a joke, cold calling is dead. There also appears to be some confusion in the thread between calling cold leads and warms leads.

Also, if you do not want people posting on "dead" threads then close them.

To declare Cold Calling as dead, seems a ridiculous assumption, and I am sure many people will disagree.

If a thread is older than 6 months without any updates then just don't post to it. Simple.

Oh, this is the sales god back from yesterday - the one who can't even afford to buy a domain, so uses a free wordpress blog.

... I am an expert when it comes to phone operations and the reason I can tell you cold calling is dead is because it is. ...

the rest was tl;dr

Funny how, whenever somebody lacks ability in one area, they are quick to declare that method dead/unworkable.
Just because you suck at cold calling, doesn't mean it is dead.

I wonder how many of the leads you require to close a sale were generated with cold calling?

I really don't mean to offend you, but you do need to spend some money on a domain and web design:

Don't think of cold calling as a negative. Its just another skill that makes you better at marketing. I always just pretended I was a different person when I was on the phone. I'm not outgoing in real life but on the phone I could be whatever I wanted. What are they going to do? Hang up. If I were you I would record my calls and listen to them. Figure out what can make it better. People are nervous about doing things because they aren't prepared and haven't practice. If you keep doing it eventually you will be good at it and it actually becomes fun. Also before a call you should watch all of the awesome clip from movies to pump yourself up. Glen Gary Glen Ross, Boileroom and Wolf of wall street are good places to start. And remember coffee is for closers!

Holy shit....if your phone skills are as good as your website there is no doubt cold calling is dead....who in their RIGHT MIMD would take ANYTHING seriously coming from that site?

This is a huge troll post, right? Please say that is what this is...

This CANNOT be serious...

Dude, if you need a redesign let me know - great people here that can do it for a couple hundred dollars....oh, and if you need a coupon to get a domain for 99 cents let me know.

That site is GOLD :D

I saw that on his wordpress site yesterday and it was the last line that made me chuckle.

Firstly, asking potential clients to give you a sales script is a sure sign you are not the sales guru you make out.

Secondly, if you are the professional sales guy you say you are, you would take care of that yourself as part of your service.

Thirdly, if you had any experience in the industry, you would realise that if a company already has a formal sales process in place, complete with sales script, they clearly handle their sales internally.

Fourthly, stating 20-20% conversion and 10% minimum commission is a sign of someone who has no experience - winning business with a new client is a consultative process - it is during that process that you work out with the client what both parties' expectations are.

Haha good one man! I worked in cold calling for a year and have friends that own companies in Spain that cold call all day long shady shit though they're at think boiler room material lol not my cup a tea but I know they pull in very very big numbers, from my personal experience I can tell you it is very far from dead if you are a solid sales man you can sell ice to Eskimos, hence my theory would be you are the one lacking. Obviously warm leads are better but to say cold calling is dead is stupid.

PS: LOL @ that site bro

Graphic design doesn't equal sales. BHW has really come down from what it used to be. No collaboration or quality conversation to help, just trolls roaming around trying to get people to up money to be "in" with BHW. Head over to the Warrior Forum, that's where we are sharing high quality content, not here.

Anyone that reads the previous comments can clearly see that BHW spams it's own blog.

No time for lectures about anything, I'm off to the beach, later.

You mean all the WSO and crap? That sure is some high quality content.

Cold calling is a trikish job, just find someone who is really good at it

Out of curiosity, did anyone go from being really terrible at cold-calling to a baller? I was horrible at it, and to this day am still horrible at it. LOL

Lots of encouraging advises are already here. I used to do cold calling for 6 months and all that matters is practise. Don't procrastinate and look aside - just keep calling and calling, and every day it will go easier. However you won't be able to relax at 100%, but in my opinion it may be even good, because it means that you care.

I distinctly remember my first cold call. Guy was a bail bonds man. After my opener he said "who the f*ck are you and what the f*ck do you want?"

lessons:
1st, dont call bail bonds men.
2nd, cold calling can only get so bad, once the fear subsides its a numbers game
