Hobbies that can get profitable?

There are many hobbies that require you to develop the so called transferable skills: drawing, writing, programming and so on and so forth. It's usually easier to learn skills through activities you enjoy, especially because you pour more time into them without even noticing, and it's even easier to get good at them.What hobbies are the easiest ones to get into that can make you gain some money (even if they won't make you rich)? What are the most potentially profitable ones, instead? And even if you can't directly make money out of them, what would be the most appealing in the job market (well, that's more indirect, but that can be just as valuable)?

Internet Marketing. It stated off as a hobby for me, didn't care about the money but little did I know how of a positive effect it would have on my life.

If we're looking at most common profitable hobbies, it would be music, sports, etc.

Art seems to be given a good opportunity these days with the power of the internet, just gotta be unique and have some marketing skills.

example of creation hobby:
music -- play for people/offer lessons
art -- commission paintings for people
programming -- freelance, sell your programs
gardening -- sell your crops
blogging -- put up ads

i would say programming has most potential. most skilled guys in that niche started as a hobby when they were young and now make a living doing it.

example of non-creation hobby
video gaming, bike riding, rock climbing, soccer, running...unless you're competing professionally for prize money, i don't see you getting paid to do it.

Programming or just Seo if you think of it as a hobby

yup.. internet marketing is the best hobby if you ask this forum. most people enjoy what they do. and get paid well to do it. doesn't seem like work most of the time.

I do painting as hobby but failed to monetize my skills.

I have been trying to get into a hobby that can later serve me to get some money too. But I have yet to find any. I am interested in learning programming but i hate maths so maybe it would not be the best option for me.
So I don´t know... What type of hobbies interest you OP?

Fishing - extremely easy to monetize, lots of KWs that are not super hard to rank, easy to use SM to drive traffic and you can easily build up your SM accounts with decent pics and videos.

1) You can monetize as an affiliate for Amazon and big box stores such as Wal-Mart, CJ has some decent advertisers, you can create your own products and sell them, use adsense on your sites (not recommended but some people like the easy way out) or, and this works great, is source products from China and repackage them into something that is not for sale anywhere else online.
1a) If you are shipping your own products or repackage products be sure to put something in there to get them to go back to your site and subscribe to your email list and give them a coupon code for their next purchase when they do.
1b) Get big enough and you can create your own brand over time and even if it takes some time it can be something that you can sell off as a company and make a score.

2) Do some KW research and you will find some pretty tough KWs, some medium level ones and quite surprisingly a lot of fairly easy ones to rank. It will be work but almost anything profitable is going to be work.

3) IG is filled with people who are into this niche and you can build your accounts up pretty easily by posting quality pics and videos and following others in the niche.
3a) There are a myriad of FB groups in this niche and they dig seeing interesting pics and videos and will certainly go to your site(s) as long as you are not spamming in the groups.
3b) YT videos are not hard to rank either if you use your head. There is even a man on BHW that sells a tool to find out if the KWs you want to rank on YT are hard or not and it is pretty accurate.

Fishermen/women are usually fanatics and are always looking for something to give them the edge over the fish and other fishermen and love to share their pics and see what others are doing.

Video games. There are so many of them that are linked with real $ economies, and being exceptionally good can mean others beg you to powerlevel them, or trade virtual items. Other than that, you can become pro.

Owning certain clans and guilds (example games: world of tanks, wow) can give you access to rare virtual commodities, where your teammates earn stuff, and you can take %.

Stream on twitch and earn full time income.

But don't think that just playing any game for pure fun makes money. You need to pick a game that can be monetized.
