hi everyone!

The thought came to mind that I should join a few affiliate marketing forums.
For context, I dabbled in affiliate marketing a few years ago but never made a substantial amount. I then decided I wanted to learn how to be a coder. After a few years as an android developer, python developer and now as a web developer, I have decided to dip my feet in affiliate marketing once again.
I would like to connect with like minded individuals.

Hi, i'm new here too, my background is a little similar to yours except that i'm kinda script kiddy in the sense that i'm unable to understand code but i just copy paste snipets i get from AI lol. I tried affiliate marketing back in 2017 just after finishing high school. I watched youtubers hyping clickbank and amazon. I tried to do it with wordpress but failed. it's a lot harder than i thought. I also sometimes have website ideas but i'm never technical enough to build one. Also, i've learn the most difficult step in any online business is to find customers, that's the real challenge. i paid $5 to a guy on fiverr to bring traffic to my affiliate website (amazon clone kinda), some traffic came in but i never got any sale . It's a lot harder than youtubers wants us to know.

btw, i'm a college dropout, i was trying to do software engineering but by the 3rd year I realized it was too hard for me. That's why i'm a bit into blackhat stuff, for now i'm trying to do surveys on sites like fivesurveys and such. later, i'll go back to affiliate marketing and maybe seo and advertisement, especially social media ads like on reddit. Reddit seems to be the easiest to start with. like creating a subreddit and warming it up, i've saw some people here talking about it.

cool, when you first started out affiliate marketing, on which network was it? what was your strategy ? i'm curious

I was using maxbouty. I was trying (albeit half-heartedly) to use social media as a traffic source. I unfortunately didn't know enough about anything I was doing to actually stick with it and find success at it.

i've heard a bit about maxbounty even though i never really looked into it. so, which social media were you using?

interesting. so, about your app development, do you use android studio and publish app in the playstore? do you make games or what's your niche? i sometimes wonder if i can use AI to dev some games and slap in-app purchases in it and earn passively but i'm pretty sure even with AI it's a lot harder than it seems

What kind of traffic you planning to get this time? SEO/SMM is gonna be slow or spammy so maybe you wanna try PPC this time? Also your dev experience will come handy if you wanna go the admob route for traffic.

I was an android app developer for a few years (pre covid) before I got tired of it and decided to branch to other forms of development. Basically working with JavaSE and android java was just a huge pain. The code was so verbose to the point of being unreadable, the builds never worked, the support libraries were never in sync and don't get me started on fragmentation in the ecosystem working with the fragment life cycle (this will make even the most passionate developer question their life choices). The pay was also terrible, my accounts kept getting terminated without reason, app updates kept getting rejected etc etc. After a while I decided enough was enough and I would rather ditch the whole tech stack than continue with all that lunacy.
As for AI stuff, It really depends on what you want to do.

it was a painful experience working with android+java. Although, at that point I was used to pain since I was coming from a multi year stint in university studying a math/stat heavy course.
Read my previous post and ask questions where you need clarifications.
I am planning on working with email marketing and SaaS development with teh MERN stack. Since that is my area of expertise and I have access to a huge email list in the coding niche; both of which I didn't have in my previous foray into affiliate marketing

Well did you try the new kotlin stuff? That's the official language - you think it's lacking too much yet, cause I've seen java is still used a lot in android development?

SaaS businss is great, but you'll have to learn a lot tho because coding is just gonna be a little part of whole work haha

One of the places I worked was pushing kotlin as an alternative but at that time my mind was already made up. I have already made and deployed a number of saas apps. I am actually here to learn how to leverage aff marketing and the somewhat large email lists I have access to.
