Heya,

I'm neinteen (actually twentytwo) and I'm a Programmer (Rust/C/Ts/Js/Html/Css/Sass etc. mostly interested in low level stuff). I hope I get to work on some cool projects to build my portfolio and make some money.

Thanks guys :) Didn't expect so many replies :D

Welcome!

enjoy your 20s but don't enjoy them too much. keep your eye on the ball. if you want to make money it's actually very easy, you just have to stay focused on it and not let all the trials and tribulations of life distract you from it.

Thanks for the advice! I'm trying my best, currently have a job which after 3 years of learning qualifies me to work in any IT job I want which is cool (just the pay is garbage It's 600€ after taxes for those 3 years, without some other sources and my 2nd job I couldn't afford my apartment or anything really). I'm a self-taught programmer, graphic designer and in general just your "can you replace my phone screen" guy, but I really f'd up my school time so I never got to work anything like that even tho I'm more than capable. I'm just very lucky I got my current job and hoping to work on some projects here to make some money on the side, nothing crazy.

2400 after taxes every month isn't bad depending on where you are. good score! but yeah in my city it would barely leave any savings after expenses.

set up a business website for this skill, put it on google maps, have people come to your house if you have to. you don't have to let them in the door, just take their phone and say it'll be ready in x hours. believe me, i did this, people will call you and you will make money. you don't have to respond to a call if you don't want to.

basic internet marketing money making is create a website with content people want, put ads on it from an ad network like adsense, keep adding content and promoting the domain everywhere you can. you may only make 20 bucks a month from one website, but create 100 of those and you got 2k extra every month.

Haha I wish, that's 600 monthly. The way it works here in Germany is that you go to work (24-32h week) and to school (8-16h week, at least in my case it can depend) for around 3 years and then you got your degree in whatever field you want to be in. I get some money from other things and from next month on everything added up (including my gf's money) gets us around 1.6k a month for 2 people. Sounds funny when I tell people that my rent is 630 and I get 620 haha. Without my gfs money (450) and my 2nd job which is also barely anything I'd be able to pay rent and then starve xD So yeah we struggling out here.

Good idea btw thank you a lot i will look into that. I was also thinking about making a simple website targeted towards a niche (tho pretty much everyone has used a site like that once or twice) that I'm familiar with and then running ads but not those insanely annoying ones that make the website unusable and maybe looking for some support from the community idk.

Are you making a good stable income online?

there are a lot of free hosting opportunities out there. i believe AWS still offers free servers. they're not awesome but you can set up a website on one, so there's that. search for free web hosting, you'll find something you can work with for the time being. then set up your website and sign up for google adsense. they generally accept everybody so long as your content is compliant with their TOS, so read the adsense TOS and make sure you remain compliant. then drop your link anywhere you can, you'll just start getting random traffic and make a few bucks a month without investing any money, just time.

yes, and have been for over 15 years now. i'm middle aged, but when i was 22 i was too wrapped up in personal drama to get anything done. i suggest staying focused on not only paying the bills but creating savings so that you have "oh shit!" emergency money, but also money you can invest in something when the time is right.

keep your nose to the grindstone and don't let anything get in the way of your goals. being wealthy and comfortable isn't that hard of a concept, it's the hard work that stops people because we all get exhausted and distracted at times. but keep up the hard work and suddenly you are living a much different, and more comfortable life because you can afford to.

I'm gonna program it to be a server-side app with the whole "brand" easily changeable via config file (so the website changes its text and logos) and then I'm gonna host 10 of them on a 5 bucks VPS and get some cheap domains. Sounds like a good plan to me :D Let's hope I can make my investment back x).

And yeah I'm really trying It just gets rough when you have like nothing I mean I luckily have enough money for food but there just is no doing something or going out or like even getting a new pair of boxers or whatever that can be veeeeery demotivating and super lame after years. I hate having to think about the pros and cons of spending 10 bucks.

Also nice to hear that you've been doing well! Stable for 15 years sounds insane to me haha the most stable I've been is the 15 minutes between me getting my pay and then spending it all on the bills xD
Thanks for all the info, can I dm u somewhere if I have some questions? I won't annoy u or anything but I understand if u don't want that
