Hetzner's dedicated servers

Hi.

I'm thinking of getting Hetzner's Root Server EX4 or EX5. Does anyone have any experience with these? From what I've read they set you up on a brand new hardware - is that true? Also what's uptime in your experience and how is their support?

I have dedicated server there for 4 years now and had no problems yet

We have a couple of our own servers colocated in their datacenter. The uptime is good, as you would expect from a big company Hetzner is. Their customer support, however, does not really want to help you if you need to make changes to your server hardware configuration.

hi,
i had vps than dedicated server wih them. uptime is excellent but support you cannot expect to help you quickly. Also my server completly was suspended 2 times due to some DMCA notices which were false. provided them with all details needed, and after few days just suspended.

I have EX5 with them - no downtime so far ( more than a month )
so far have not needed any support.

Budget hosting companies such as Hetzner and OVH, are both very good, provide excellent bandwidth and uptime for great prices. However they both run on automated systems, that in any case your server receives a small attack, has a DCMA complaint etc... they will automatcally suspend your server. To get your servers back online after suspension can take quite a lot of time, and phone calls.

Also expect absolutely no support. I had a failed HDD on a 10 day old OVH server, they refused to help me recover the data, and wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount of money to send me the broken HDD! Hence it took like 5 days for them to replace the broken HDD, and put the server online with no compensation. And all data on the faulty HDD was lost!

I guess you get what you pay for!

ive only used ovh have you checked ther prices the are very similar to hetzner and much cheaper than leaseweb.

I have ovh server from last 1 year without any problem, if you want to buy DS from Hetzner then check out there online auction page..Online auction DS will save your one time set up free and instant activation of server.

Hetzner is very good, only issues can be on weekends if you have an incoming attack that gets your server locked. I guess it depends on how many servers you have as well, I've seen people with 15+ servers get a lot better support than single-server clients.

I guess it all comes down to the simple fact that you get what you pay for.

It clearly says that on their sla. Don't you read sla 's before you buy hosting?

In case of a hard disk malfunction, it is substituted with a new one and access codes are sent to your email address. It may take all up to two hours. You need to recover your data from a backup and install necessary software on the new disk.

Hetzner are the best hoster I think... I have an dedicated Server for 2 years and have still no problems.. No downtimes!

Only the setup price are too high :/

Hetzner had a major cyber attack with stolen user data (billing info) recently. They were storing it unprotected/unencrypted. Stupid and most unprofessional.
