What do I write back to them ? That I did'nt know that xrumer was spamming ?

lol..

I wish to stay with the host, becausse it's a bit of shit to change always from host :(

maybe say you made posts that you feel contributed to the forum, and you are allowed links on forums as forums are for users to write whatever they want, which is why its not illegal to post alsorts of spam crap on them - tell them that what your doing is legal, and they can google search it

i had to do this when i was blog commenting and didnt use an i.p.. they let it go hopefully you are as lucky

It's also legal to send emails to people, the method that is used can make something illegal though. I'm not sure about laws on spamming forums though.

emailing opt ins is fully legal

emailing none opt in lists is illegal in all "developed" countries

in some countries, even harvesting email lists is illegal

however, spamming forums is legal in most countries still

This is not the case, unless you are saying the US is not a developed country. Maybe can spam makes emailing non opt in users harder, but it doesnt make it illegal as long as you follow certain steps, also can spam preempts all local state laws.

damn :( poor us in the uk

no, i didnt realise it was legal in the US

Ik know that sending emails can give you problems... But I don't wish to explain that I did it with xrumer...

Do you think they will buy it when I said I have posted my own there ?

The text that I posted was a bit spammy .. lol.. so I don't think it contributed to the forum :)

cheers,

pretty sure we have the same rulings as the CAN spam thing states,i.e we can still spam if we give them the chance to remove themselves from a list with a single click and you have some sort of policy etc.

Read up on the laws Im sure we can still do it here, so long as we provide all the information and a get out clause.

Hello,

I have made a post to the forum, and there I was allowed to place a link. Forums are IMHO for users to write whatever they want, so I did'nt think I have done somthing that's wrong. I shall not post annymore on that forum.
They have even deleted my post... so there is no problem annymore I guess.

Cheers,

deef

I have followed you :) So I hope they buy it :)

:pcguru:

Thanks are added :)

can spam gives you a "one shot" to a non-optin inbox provided you follow certain requirements, however you must also read the TOS of your host which sometimes require optin or double optins. I agree with the posts above to look into the law, but also llok into your hosts' terms of use

I think that everyone should have a chance to read the rules on forum spamming before they start:

Before you start spamming forums you must know and understand spamming goals. Understanding your goals is a very important part of spamming. Please keep in mind that your goals are separate from your plan. Here is a good goal list I've compiled, and I advise you to keep these in mind.

* You should be noticed. Spamming without anyone caring or even reading the spam is such a waste.
* You should tick people off. If everyone thinks you're great then what's the point? (note 1)
* You should enjoy yourself. Your ultimate goal should be to have a good time. Feel free to laugh out loud while you're spamming.
* You should gain some experience. Every time you spam make sure you learn something, you want to perfect your skills.
* You should aim to annoy/irritate. You should try and annoy/irritate as many people as possible with the least material possible. This can include pictures as well.

Here are some ideas to get your brain going, some of these are from the techniques.

1. Post every post in a very hard to read text color. Like this
2. Speak in binary or another language.
3. Make all of your text a link. Pretend its an accident. Oops.
4. If the forum allows HTML in the posts, put frames in all your posts. More then one scrollbar can be very fun.
5. Put a huge transparent signature in your signature
6. Use way too many smilies. I mean way too many. :) :)
7. Double post every time you post. Pretend its a browser bug.
8. Request as many graphics as you're allowed. Post tons of code support questions, and make them really hard.
9. Submit useless stuff to indexes. (IE. A table to the html index, a blank forum to the forum skins, etc.)
10. Make all of your posts rhyme.
11. Use a thesaurus so your posts don't make much sense.
12. Start a chain pm.
13. Search for very old threads and reply to them. Bring back all the old threads.
14. Create your own rules, ask them to be stickied.
15. Post really specific threads that no one knows about. "Who here plays Chinese dragon chess?"
16. Pretend to be an admin that used to own the forum before it got taken over.
17. Offer the admin $1,000 for the admin account.
18. Create your own index, ask members to submit there work.
19. CAPITALIZE ALL LETTERS
20. CaPiTAliZe SomE Of ThE LeTTErS
21. Make all your posts images and upload them.
22. 5P34K 71K3 TH15
23. Use tags around this: [url]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8f/Whole_world_-_land_and_oceans_12000.jpg[/url]
24. Put 200 pictures of hitler in a single post, porn, or a picture of David Bowie as the goblin king with the caption "i am going to punch you in the dick" [/QUOTE]

I can't find much real info on forum spam other than this which doesn't mention laws:
[CODE]http://www.spamlaws.com/forum-spam.html[/CODE]

well, what were you doing exactly? were you spamming every thread in the forum? were you making 1 or 2 posts? were you flooding the board?

you also might want to ask which forum it was so you can avoid them in the future....

instead of explaining, you weren't intending to spam but to be involved with the forum...that the administrator mistook your enthusiasm for posting?

What I would do:

Tell them that your server was hacked, that you are very sorry and that it won't happen again. Is the server in your country? Be careful then.

But what can happen indeed - happened to me: stopforumspam.com....

You will possibly find your server ip on that page :)

And that was the point when I decided to use proxies/vpn only, regardless if it is illegal or not. What I can recommend BTW is VPN with shared IP. But yes, it is slow and you cannot fully use your bandwidth.

Yeah, use proxies to be safer with xrumer.
Just tell them either your server was hacked or it was someone you were hosting running xrumer, and that it won't happen again. Continue with proxies.

Yes, you need to provide an unsub link, address and phone number. More complex than that but that is the basics.

Seriously guys is their any law in the USA regarding spamming forums?

G00B3R

I doubt it, most is pretty specific to email. They made it specific due to the nature of US law, if they didnt limit it a packet, IM, message on a private forum could be considered spam.

I got this reaction ....

Code:
>Hello,
>
>Thanks for responding... so was it just a single post you made?

Gonna tell them this:

Code:
Hello,

It was a single post on that forum yeah... I don't even remember on what topic it was.. but it was with a link in it to one off my sites to becomme some link rank to my site.

Cheers,

deef

Hope they will buy it :) It was only one post on that forum... did'nt mention the other 40.000 forums I have spammed the same time :) Hope there will not come anymore complaigns .. but with this success rate .. I doubt it ...
