Hi o/,

I'm new on MNS world, so I have some questions about keyword research for MNS, but my first question is: I have to search keywords with low, medium or high competition ? Well, I following the journey of dealsopoly, and on some post, he said that its better search for medium~high than low competition, so I tried to find my own keyword ( I will start with one site, for training ).

I have one keyword that I want to use:

  • 3600 local searches
  • $1.01 CPC
  • High competition
  • domain available
  • quote prefix ( "my keyword here" ): 1.980.000 results
  • intitle prefix: 4920 results
  • inurl prefix: 3410 results
  • both (inurl & intitle): 3010 results

--TOP 10-- ( i used intitle and inurl together to see my real top 10 competitors )
-All 10 first pages have PR N/A
-#1~#4 have 0 backlinks
-#5 have 11 backlinks
-#6~#8 have 0 backlinks
-#9 have 9 backlinks
-#10 have 10 backlinks

and now ? this is a good keyword ? Like I said, I'm new to MNS world, and, to say the true, I'm a little afraid to invest money and fail, I've purchased 6 domains ( not related with MNS ) to try make money, and I failed with all ;( ( actually, make $2 per month lol ).

Any help will be appreciated.

I still think you should go with a low competition keyword, I'm not really sure how a KW with medium to high competition would be easier to rank

Low competition keywords are virtually useless for Adsense.

We're talking about Ad Competition here. Not SERP competition.

If your Ad Competition is LOW, then there are no ads for your keyword, meaning, you are promoting nothing. Your CPC will be very low.

High Ad Competition means that you have multiple bidders for your keyword and your CPC will be much higher, thus making your site more profitable.

It's important to know the difference between AD competition and SERP competition. You need to find a keyword with HIGH AD Competition and LOW SERP competition.

Ex: How to brush Your Teeth
Let's say it has a local US search of 8100 and the SERP competition is low. But Adwords competition is also LOW.... You might rank 1st, but your actual CPC will most likely only be a few cents per click as there are no ads for the keyword.

Now take:
Where to buy a toothbrush
This would be much more of a buyer keyword. SERP competiton is low and Adwords Competition is HIGH. This would be a much more profitable keyword.

Anyways, the examples above are just examples, I haven't checked them at all. I'm just trying to get my point accross.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Also, for the OP

Those keyword stats look just fine. I would most likely jump on that keyword.

Also, make sure you check the "ACTUAL" top 10 competition. Meaning, just type in your keyword, no quotes and look at the actual results on the 1st page.

You can do intitle and inurl searches until your blue in the face, but the real pages that are ranking for your keyword ARE the actual top 10 results ;)

If you're not from the states (or whereever your local searches are from), check them with hidemyass.com or something similar.

Yea the kw looks good but make sure to double check the kw without the prefix just the kw itself

One more thing dont totally trust Gs keyword tool regarding the CPC check to see if the kw ur targeting have advertiser or else ur wasting time if ur gonna monetise with Adsense

Thanks for the replies guys.

I've checked with the kw itself, and, give me 3.150.000 results.
The PR are from 3 to 6, and they have more backlinks. ( top 10 )

But, the #1 - #3 are ranking with part of my keyword.

Example: ( this is not my keyword, just example ).
wash cars for free

The top 3 ( same site ) is ranking by using "wash cars", and I want to rank using "wash cars for free".

A keyword like that is good to go, or it's better I search for another keyword ?

Even I am new on MNS world, still what i think is Low competition keywords are useless so its better don't search them and waste time over it.Go for the High Ad Competition, because then you will be having multiple bidders for your keyword.
