HI can anyone recommend the best wordpress theme for a recipe blog and why u like it ? thak you x

Kadence wp theme. The free version. Starter template for recipe. The recipe schema org is integrated. No need to install any plugin.
 
For a food blog, you don't need fancy front-page designs. So, I would suggest you to go for light them like generatepress. Light theme helps your WP site loads faster, which is also one of the many ranking factors
 
If you search for any recipe on google, you will notice all top pages share similar seo patterns. focus on this. otherwise, regardless of your content quality, you will have difficulties in ranking. I'm talking from personal experience.
 
Kadence and Astra are good for this kind of job.

This. I have always seen food blogs using clean and light themes.
 
be sure to have the recipe at the top or a skip to recipe button. i always hear people complain about having to sort through a long post just to find the recipe they are looking for
