@Wren " Now, we are facing this membership issue. It's obvious that the '2% ers' are here and they want too corner this potential 'payday' also.
So, why not set the membership at $19.95..."

Screw it. The rich get richer and the poor just bitch.

Set the membership @ $199.95 per month.

That way, I'm not tempted to toss my hard earned money into something that might not see a return and the rich BH'ers can cackle and cluck about their exclusive membership.

Problem solved. Status quo maintained.

edit: Make sure to give members a special BH icon/avatar too. That way, everyone can see just how successful and special they are.

ClownSoup, you seem, I dunno, some what bitter, a touch of anger possibly, and all with four posts too.

Welcome to BHW.

mmm, didn't mean to come across that way in all four posts.
I think maybe my meds need upping. Thanks for the heads up.

At least you didn't say: 'the rich get richer and the poor get frucked-over-and-out.'

It happens, life goes on, and you are welcome. Moving on.

So, Dave/Cory, what's the word on this as of now?

Simple economics.

As of the time I posted this there were 234 votes. IF all people that voted took up the offer at the price they voted for the income would look like this:

$19.95 - 176 votes - income $3511.20
$29.95 - 23 votes - income $688.85
$49.95 - 17 votes - income $849.15
$97.95 - 17 votes - income $1665.15

I ignored the one vote for $67.95 and assumed that $29.96 was a misprint.

It seems fairly obvious that the most income for you guys is the cheapest option and it's likely that a good number of the people who voted for the higher amounts would actually join for a lower subscription (even if just to check it out).

You've got an obvious 2 tier structure - lower at $19.95 and higher at either $97.95 or some number that the $49.95 people might be persuaded to jump to. It's a no-brainer.

OTOH just because someone voted for the price it doesn't mean they'll join.

Thats true to a certain extent but if you include the server and bandwidth it takes to host a ton of users using client server apps you have a great deal of over head AND you have a boat load of tech support. Those are also BIG factors in pricing.

I just hope a reasonable price can be decided especially for the owners of the tool. Anything worthy to my business I?ll happily invest. My point is nobody should even be having this debate, nobody knows what the service is offering.

The best stuff is always free to every one
Take all the SEO forums that are Pay per Month
If the guys where that good at SEO
Why would they need to charge they own sites would easily cover the costs?
And if they needed to make more cash why not show the way and then take a percentage?

free.99 would be good lol.

If the value is there then the price I dont think really matters

Hello to all BHW members!

I am quite new as a member of this forum, however Ive been reading this outstandig forums for a long time.

Here goes my 2 cents:

I have allways dreamed about membership site where all of the
contributors have to participate (like all will install software which
autopings others blogs, view no-voiced youtube videos in the background
influence the stats numbers by fake visiting with curl and hell
lot of other ideas where a lot of ips and trusted people are needed)

Basicaly saying, make it affordable (cheap) and require participation in
projects like the above ones. Giving members also an opportunity to vote
what we do install in lets say Juli.

Hope somebody consider that sh*t i wrote :)

I think 97.95 a year would be a fair price to start off with dave

ClownSoup.. your a funny guy.. I like you already :o

I agree, can we get this sorted out. I really want to get the CS script.

I think it is only fair for the guys that have already purchased it to get credit for membership.

If this is so then I will purchase now. time to sort it all out...

19.95 monthly or discounts for paying 3, 6, 9 or 12 months in advance. One thing I think should be done is for this forum to be member only (pay or free). Right now anyone cruising by can read the posts and pass on the knowledge to the wrong people (affiliate networks, etc). It won't keep everyone out but at the same time it can't hurt.

A BHW Noob's 2 cents worth.

I'd like to put forth a different business model, (even though I polled for $19.95 - since there were no other choices available)

Firstly, some very valid points have been made by the following:
nicho
phpnull
solobeton
PhiltheBear

My idea is this:

Regular users should not be charged.

When I look at the membership list, I can see that there are many members who have not made or have made very few posts/contributions. They should be approached and asked to pay a membership fee, let's say $20/month, otherwise they should be deleted form the forum. This will clean up the membership list somewhat.

Membership to the forum should then be advertised to people not already on the list for about $30 - $50/month.

Any special programs should be offered for a small fee, lets say $10 - $30 to ALL paid members. That should increase the mullah in the coffers of those running the forum.

As mentioned by one of the members above, there should be a 3/6/12month option of paying for membership.

I think this poll is kind of pointless. 98% of the people here are going to vote for the cheapest option possible... If we set the price at 1 penny, it would still dominate the polls.

My take

The more you decide on charging the more proof you will need to provide that the tools/concepts systems work. I would speculate 19.99 on a private forum just for the sharing of ideas behind closed doors....BUT at the other end of the scale 99 usd I would want HARD RECENT FACTS that the tools etc WORK and produce INCOME.

Over the years there have been a number of tools / systems that claim all sorts of things perfect example being PGI, most of the real players left after it became obvious that the system did NOT work. Desperate acolytes remain swallowing hook line and sinker any crap that the owner comes out with.Other examples SSEC,Botcandy,Niches in a Box..........they all claim to offer the solution.....and when people actually use them hard core they are worthlesss.

The cynic in me asks myself if these "private never released tools" WORK why release them? Why not just outsource and milk the tools for all they are worth.

Been in the business long enough to see private tools that have stopped working THEN released to the hopeful masses.

So I would suggest 19.99 other wise you are gonna have to provide a lot of documentary proof of claims made. Sorry but thats the way it is these days......many of us will just read stand back and say "prove it"

i never understood why all these people want proof...if they prove that the tools work..than what?... does that prove you will do just as well?... and if these tools really work and the owner is making money on it... you think they are going to out of their way to show you a never ending list of proofs and screenshots to convince you to buy? NO!.. they are making money anyway even if you dont buy

.. if they feel nice to share the tools with us for a small fee.. we should be thankful....not cocky by demanding proof.... why is it that all the noobs just sit there and tell the real marketers to show them proof...when they should be happy they are given a chance to buy it in the first place....

have you ever given a dollar to a homeless person before?... i live in New York...so i've seen and given to alot of homeless...and never once did they ask me to provide proof that the dollar is not counterfeit. ...

yes..i know we all earned our money and we dont want to just give it away for some tool that doesnt work...and i know there are people that lie... but asking for proof doesnt make it better... if they lied...than they will lie about the proof... if they didnt lie ... than they dont have to prove anything to you..they are making money without you anyway....either way you arent gaining anything...

and if you cant trust this forum.(not everyone here but at least the mods and the vip) than you havent been here long enough or you havent read or know enough to make a clear judgement...

im sorry if that sounded mean and cold....

as for the membership price...i voted for 20...so everyone that want to get in on the info can do so..and/but as for the tools... i think you guys should sell the tools to the paid members... you know?... like $20 to be a paid memeber and read all the methods and ask questions to gurus... and be introduced to the cool tools but to actually use the tools..they would have to pay...

but why the membership fee? if i have to pay, why not just sell the tool?
well.. if you arent a paid member you wouldnt even know some of these tool existed...i think this helps in further classifying the paying members...those that would pay the min. to get more info and those that have the funds and are willing to invest in the serious stuff...

my 2 cents

The amount of "golden nuggets" ive gained from being here for the last couple of months far outweighs even the highest proposed price.

Still - all content is free in my eyes

I'm going to throw a few random ideas at the wall to see if they stick

Tiered pricing (higher the grade higher the price)
1) nubs -$19
2) juniors - $35
3) vips - $50

Reason
Each area fulfills a need:-
nubs = nub info = nub price
etc

anyone can pay the full price but they would be silly in doing so as they wont understand the content of the higer areas and in doing so they are throwing away time/money

You could in effect have a quiz that decides what level each user should be looking at (ok i know you can search for answers but its simply a guide and a bit of interaction - the leechers would have to spend a bit of time learning before posting and gathering - geddit!)

So in effect it becomes a "go out there and learn before you post wanky questions"

feel free to rip to bits :)

If they want people to pay money for it ...oddly yes.

1.They are not Sharing they are SELLING
2. Noobs as you call them will accept any claims made, without exercising due diligence.
3.Pros having been through this scenario before WILL if they have any sense ask for proof. alternatively speculate one months membership then leave. Not ideal for the site owners?

Dont understand the analogy, this is not FREE help being given to Desperate people. As I understand it it is a service being SOLD.

This a free forum, the owner generates income in various ways but the content is provided FREE by members who are here FREE. A paid membership site/applications site is a different ballgame

im sorry if that sounded mean and cold....

Not at all, misguided perhaps flawed logic maybe...each to his own.
