I got a client that challenges me with an interesting angle, and I don't know what to tell him.

Since a couple of months, I built diversity links to my clients websites, and everytime, they get good results. Now, this guy told me my stuff was fake, because the links don't show in Ahrefs, so are not indexed.
- I looked myself, and like 2% of my link are in Ahrefs. I don't believe such a small amount can get a medium KW to 1st page, so it's physically impossible.

Do you have an idea of what technical fact that I'm missing? I look bad, but the results are there. The client seems to care more about this than his ranking, so I try to find what's going on and understand the truth behind this.

The links aren't in Ahrefs, because the websites where you have made backlinks blocked it, from scraping their website. Either by robots.txt (you can check) or by some custom server side code.

Just say you have blocked crawler spiders.

Why does a customer care anyway if they have results? The biggest SEO companies don't even provide reports.

Very interesting. I'll check that.

Most of my clients are other agencies that do quality control. I just found the most over zealous of them all, but it push me out of my comfort zone, so I try to understand what's going on.

Mostly, my links are 2.0, and I verified some of them. Nothing's blocked on the robots level.

Maybe Ahrefs is ignoring those pages, but I doubt it...

Are you selling links or selling results?

Sounds to me that you need to clarify what you are offering to that client and explain you are not a link seller but rather a SEO.

Ahrefs rarely sees Web 2.0. Their crawlers aren't google!

It's really easy to confirm the existence of Bl's. Just go to search console --> Links and you will find all of them there. This is the easiest and most straight way.

The other way is looking for site:web2.0 name.com .. Then looks at the cached page by google. Another proof that google actually seen and cached your backlink

Those methods above for you, to know how your BL's are performing and when are they indexed

As for the Agency, you can tell them to GTFO .. Your deal with them wasn't about showing in Ahrefs! It was SEO service about results. If their website ranked, then you tell them to F*** Off and they will come back. It looks like they want to cheat your method anyway.

Can’t he check GSC instead and see the links there?

I’ve seen people here being so inclined on the idea that 2.0s don’t improve ranking, ever.

There is a guy around (I won’t tag) that says this at every god damn thread about 2.0s.

It’s been kind of discouraging hearing that but since you’re providing a service that relies on 2.0s I want to ask: I guess it’s worth it to build my own 2.0s or to buy some?

yeah, ahref are the ones who rank them. Do they get more visitors from search engines?

I will ask him the GSC access.

I buy my 2.0s from a partner here in BHW. He always got me good results and service. But with the actual situation, I told him about the client complaint, and he answered that indexing 2.0s in 2019 was super hard, and that around 40% max. would eventually be.

I never challenged my provider, because my clients do get the 1st page for their KW, so why would I care. But now, I realise that the 2.0 bundle technique relies on a number game. I didn't taught it was the case, so I'm very surprised and off-balance.
