I recently got my account 'un-limited', but the troubles aren't over yet. PayPal is requesting the last four digits of my Social Security number or tax ID number to confirm my identity; I have the former, but I'm more than a little reluctant to give them it, considering that I'm under 18. According to the Social Security website, the last four digits reveal nothing incriminating, so I could probably get away with it, but I'm still nervous about it. It's not absolutely essential that I give them this anyway -- confirming my identity is only necessary if I want to add money to my account, which is not super important. However, I will undoubtedly have to provide them this in the future, once doing taxes becomes required...

My question is: Should I give PayPal my SSN, and further lie about my age?

Do you really have a choice??

They will limit your account again If you don't give it to them.

If you want to use their service then give them what they ask for.

If you are already prepared to provide SSN in future then why not now ? Of course age is an obstacle here.

I ran into this situation years ago, it's fine. They won't limit you or ban you, but they will verify your name with it.

its fine if you lie about age, only if you're under 18 when they discover you as they will try to take you to court,

i was -$60 on my paypal account for over a year so they sent me a letter thereatning to take me to court (i was 13 at the time)
i called them up and said no lol im 13 and they were forced to drop the case and my account remains -$60 till this day lol

do it , i did it at 16 and i was fine just make sure your "18" paypal sucks at verifying anyways.

Paypal doesn't really file your tax id unless you actually ask them to.
