Indian users of online money transfer service PayPal face a long wait after the firm abruptly suspended personal payments because of regulatory issues. Last month's move followed questions from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) about whether PayPal complies with laws on cross-border money transfers.
Neither PayPal, which is based in the US, nor the RBI was able to say when the issue might be resolved.
The affair has left many Indian users of PayPal frustrated.

Use any other service to recieve payments. RBI sucks.... There policies bar indian debit cards to be used online....

I never tried any other service. Can you please suggest me some good services?

The problem associated with a switch to some other provider would mean losing lots of clients since most of the clients choose Paypal to make payment. On the other hand, only "personal" option is blocked, you can still receive payment via Paypal through "goods/services" option. Funds can be withdrawn from Paypal to your bank account using "xoom.com" services. And of course, if the client is willing to pay you directly into your xoom account then you will save some fees for yourself. All you need to is supply your name and bank account information to your client. It takes few minutes to open a xoom account and no credit or debit card is required for registration.

Xoom....How is service? I just visted the site. They charge heavy if I transfer from paypal..
 
Xooms charges increased just now earlier it was around $7 for bank wire , But their service is good enough.
 
the flow of cash to indians from unknown sources are way too incredible.
thats why RBI is forcing some rules.

what the heck? did you ever used xoom? don't try to spread rumors.. Xoom is a great service and you ll get your money within 24 hours. I myself used the service. and you can also find coupon codes to avoid Xoom fee.
 
I think withdrwal through Cheque is the good option.

Bank transfer is not possible now...Paypal stopped sending payments direct in bank account for Indian users because of RBI issue.
 
When can we expect withdrawals to bank account get functional again ??

Any updates on that front??

And as per the info check only takes 5-7 days to reach you(but not sure how long for encashment) . They will even reverse the charges for check transfer. IF this is true, then its ok for me.

I had some trouble with xoom.i tried the cash pickup option and they canceled the transaction stating that what i was trying to do is intra india money transfer and that's not permitted.
