ehhh honestly I just use H1 and the rest H2's, I don't bother using header nesting anymore (H3 H4, etc). Google doesn't seem to give 2 shits anymore.
So ex:

If you use them for anything, it would mostly be ease of use for your readers, which you can break things up in better ways than this.

In HTML mechanically you would write.

The recommendation is to put some variations or synonyms to your main keyword in h2 and h3, as that way you will target it better. For h1, just make sure that you use it only one time per page.

somehow related, I usually look for LSI keywords or related keywords that make sense together. Cat food, for example, won't fit in there. Different types of cat toys will.
