Hi Gurus,

I'm currently doing some link building, with directories that require a reciprocal link to submit my site, only thing is its my client site, how do I get around this, because the receiving site URL has to be the same as the submission site URL. And I can see my competitors have submitted also but cant see there reciprocal links anywhere, how did they do this. please HELP????

Don't use directories which require a reciprocal link, Google gives no value to links which are not "one way". Instead you should submit to the free directories there are loads, leave a message here if you need help finding some free directories.

Most of the directories that require a reciprocal links do NOT check to see that the link is on the same domain. To test, look at the backlinks of a directory you are submitting to and put one of their backlinks in the required field. In most cases your submission will be accepted.

Reciprocal linking is bad seo. You will be penalized for it. Be careful.

I've found that you can put it in the code whilst it checks then immediately remove for most of these types of directories.

I think most of these directories will run a package that will check the link status each month; hence although you may get away with it for a few weeks, they will eventually acknowledge the removal of their link. Regarding free one way links: these are hard to find!

while submitting links you have the option to have reciprocal links or not.Just select normal submission,if there is no option than reciprocal link then simple ignore the site and move to next one

Does this hurt?

I just bought eDirectory which is a local business directory. It has a tool that encourages members to post a "As seen on Domain.com" post on their page. In return, that person will get an advanced listing. Since the member has a profile, they already have a URL my site.

Does that hurt me or can it help? I want to have as many of them linking back to me but not if it hurts.

These are small local businesses with very few (if any) external links.

Thanks.

i will suggest don't use reciprocal links because it;s leave bad effect on SERP.

if you want reciprocal links search in SE and enter keyword reciprocal free link ,here you get many results.

Just skip that crappy directory. There's plenty more where that came from.

The only thing I would add to this discussion is that the big G and his brothers are looking for a natural looking link pattern. My feeling is that having a few reciprocals and a link or two out to authority sites in your area of interest will help to make your site seem genuine as well as the ultra important factor of being genuine and useful.

Website directories are useless, so don't waste too much of your time on them.

Better get some content written and submit to articles directories/guest blogs.
