Using Facebook's social plugin. If properly placed, with manual link building (like joining similar communities) and soft advertising (like in your profile or signature) or adding links to active (not spammy) blogs eventually with patience you will start the snowball. When google's algorithm changes hits you won't be affected (unless someone "neg seo's") but that is another topic.
I get top SERP's with little as 50 backlinks.
I think it's possible that we have opposing opinions on naturality.
This is what I'd consider natural.
Build a site. On site SEO + social plugins. Create a fanpage, twitter, and whatever social media account. It all starts from scratch.
People find your site, via a search result, then like/follow you because they want your updates. Your fanbase increases.
Other people write about you and link to you because you're a worthwhile source.
You know, the natural process of things..
I could've gone into it a little more but I'm sure you understand what I'm saying.
