I think it's possible that we have opposing opinions on naturality.

This is what I'd consider natural.

Build a site. On site SEO + social plugins. Create a fanpage, twitter, and whatever social media account. It all starts from scratch.

People find your site, via a search result, then like/follow you because they want your updates. Your fanbase increases.

Other people write about you and link to you because you're a worthwhile source.

You know, the natural process of things..

I could've gone into it a little more but I'm sure you understand what I'm saying.

Is the most recent update penalizing websites with scary big words. Because you know, Google wants the general public to understand general content. As the average IQ decreases, they will stricken the update in more advanced future versions.

I believe if the community warrants it or blog warrants it and your site has the information requested or is relevent dropping a link is not a bad thing but I understand what you are saying. I allow links in forums I run and blogs (although all my blogs are custom built. I don't use wordpress etc)

I scan the comment, past posting, links, how many backlinks and decide if the content is relevent, the age of the domain and history. If it looks natural ill leave it although that is few and far between

Bottom line I guess as long as what you do works for you and passes these updates at the end of the day we all cash our checks. :)

Every attempt to manipulate the search algorithm is considered not "natural" by Google and therefore is against their TOS. Even "Manual" Link Building and exploiting Social Media. The sole existence of onsite SEO is to game the algorithm and not to create content that people like.
