[Help] Do autoblogging still works in 2018 ?

I have a niche identified, with 10 sub-niches, and could develop it if automated.

Wondering if auto-blogging (text and tube videos) from RSS with subdomains (one subdomain for each niche), at east for the few first months until I get enough trafic to hire writers, is still a good tactic / way of making advertising money in 2018 (taking in consideration I dont expect to get trafic from G, but short term from SM and middle term from newsletters/emailing).

If your not relying on search engines as traffic source then it will work i think
 
It will work since you're not relying on search engine for the traffic and that's good for you. Text and tube videos always work.
 
It can work with the search engines if the site being auto blogged is clearly a curation formatted site, in which case it won't be penalized by Google. Or, if the property is a real parasite (that also escapes punishment by Google), you can rank with it, though not as easily as other situations.
 
Autoblogs can still work if you target the right keywords to generate enough traffic.
Consider it a success if it covers all the costs, hosting, domain etc
 
What would be the best WP theme to do curation ? I kind of like zerohedge website style because information and titles are condensed, allowing lots of information to be displayed without too much scrolling. Are there any similar WP theme ?
 
If you plan to use PPC as your primary income source, then the PPC doesn't really look on whether your site's texts are copied or not (unless if someone complains).
A click on an ad generate revenue - it can't get any simpler than that.
All you need to worry about is to generate the legit traffic to your site, and if it has premium traffic from USA or Europe, you will be able to make some good money off the clicks, no doubt.
