I'm a developer with a bachelor's degree in CS and a graduated from General Assembly Full Stack Bootcamp in NYC. I'm not interested in simply renting myself to the highest bidder on the market - which is what getting a job is. I believe we are all meant to live meaningful lives free from external coercion & domination - which is what work is. I'd rather make $40,000 /year doing something on my own than make $140,000/year by renting myself to private power.

Does anybody else feel the same? It's a lonely world out here for people who have similar beliefs.

Wow, what an introduction. I like the way you put a "job" or your definition of it. Surely doing what you love is far more fulfilling irrespective of the money. Should that be your job then awesome, else starting on your own is best.

Yes, I totally agree with you! Moreover, I am sure that if you love your deal - you will earn more than if you rent yourself to private power and hate that work!
