Just came by to say hi. Hope everyone is well. I gave everything up to work on my first love and passion which is antiques. I held my breath and killed the jewelry store, which is what I raised my kids on as a single parent. I don't miss it at all. I sell a lot locally which is what I was missing in life. I love the customer interaction in person. I'm working on a new website that I will put the antiques on so I can reach a wider base, but I'm doing it at my leisure because local sales are great and I have a lot of customers. The kids are doing well, thank God. My baby is a senior in college. He wants to be a doctor! Well I just came by to say hi and hope you are all in good health and are doing well in your work.

Hey @redrubies,

It's good to see you again! While I've almost always sold my online marketing services locally, I've been looking into opening up a local business that sells homemade physical goods after I move to the East coast as well . You're right about the customer interaction being better; there's something satisfying about working with locals. :D

Hi honey! It's good to see you too! The in person customer interaction was the part of the puzzle that was missing for me. 100% online sales frazzled my nerves to bits. Over 20 years of it was more than enough. No matter how good the money was, none of it matters if you get to the point where you hate what you're doing. It's so much fun selling in person! You make lots of friends and it brings them joy to tell them that you got something in that they collect. My family loves to get involved too. They come to estate sales with me and I am teaching them to have an eye for the good stuff. My sister picked up a gorgeous vase that I overlooked and said "Is this something good?" I paid ten dollars for it and sold it for $400. She was so happy that she found it and tells everyone "I have an eye for antiques now!" lol I could go on forever, but I feel so blessed to be doing what I really love. Good luck with your move! You're moving close to me!

That sounds heavenly! God Bless you in your new home!

It is actually really, really good for my wife as she is a bit of a nature lover to the point of telling me not to kill the spiders as they are part of the total ambiance.

I don't mind it much myself as we can fish off our dock, take out the canoe or kayak for some casual exercise and we have a view that I certainly do not deserve off the back of the house.

It sounds so beautiful! Have you ever seen a bear in your area? I have yet to see a bear in my state but people I know have.

No bears here that I have seen and it has not come up in conversation with any of the neighbors. There may be some across the lake as it is a wildlife preserve... have seen some gators come through though.

You would hear me screaming clear across the country if I saw an alligator. Do they freak you out?

No, they don't mess with us... once in a while you may see one whenout on the canoe but they don't come near us and we don't go near them.

They don't reside here but they sort of pass through now and then.

The water moccasins and other snakes freak me out and anytime I open a door to an out building I take a step back.

I am getting the creeps just thinking about alligators and snakes lurking around the area.
