So I sent an offer to some hotels off a random list, but this one guy was not very grateful for my offer of help.

Just thought I would share as its a pretty funny response.

His website is some kind of gay retreat where guys can walk around naked.

What on God's Earth Planet are you from???
Your e mail below is DREADFUL..
LONG WINDED - BLAH BLAH BLAH and for busy hoteliers like me, it is just babble babble babble .
I got sick of reading it after just the first 2 paragraphs and realised it was spam and I DO NOT APPRECIATE YOU SPAMMING MY ADDRESS
Your advertising trechnique is DREADFUL yet you think you can assist hotels - GET REAL...
YOU HAVE A LOT TO LEARN
DO NOT SPAM ME WITH THIS GARBAGE AGAIN.
PLUS - WHAT SORT OF MORON SENDS AN E MAIL SUCH AS YOURS TO A VENUE WITH A WEB SITE THAT RECEIVED OVER 1 MILLION HITS LAST YEAR - MORE THAN ANY OF YOURS I AM SURE.
NOW = BOG OFF.

May be he is already paying lot of $$$ to some other IMer to take care of his site.Anyways it is a numbers game. You ask hundred people and some reply in affirmative.

As long as they don't complain for spamming you shouldn't worry about one or two angry rant emails

Take note of what he said he's giving you some advice.

I would love to see your email.

Yeah for sure I have taken it on board, its the first send so I fully intend on trying another completely different copy and seeing how that one goes.

Oxon I would love to pm you the email if you will give me a few pointers and promise not to make a thread about how bad I am at writing emails

Well, I don't think you are very grateful to his help to you.
He clearly states that your offer looks spammy.
And if your email is 2 pages long I can't disagree. Those are the first I delete without even reading them.

EDIT:
What the dudes above me said :p

haha i could be more grateful you are right
it was a very long email, i used this 12 step sales letter formula that i found, i guess the downside is it creates long letters.

But this is all about trying different letters and see what gets the best response? - I wont know for a while yet, this could prove to be more effective than a short sharp letter
