Haven't been around for a good while now due to several things, my health being the main problem. But anyway, I am still here, still cracking on. I built myself what I thought was a really nice website, all legit, above board and genuine tangible stuff on there all for sale or order. I kept things as simple as possible and really took my time with it, you know getting the alt tags organised, nice pictures and a simple clean interface. Got myself a merchant account and everything. I have been doing this for a long time now, building websites and such.
That didn't stop me from making THE big rookie mistake. You see, I didn't back it up because I "hadn't quite finished" Then some complete To$$er from Turkey showed up. They had a toolkit and injected code using PHP and that was my website, trashed. I wasn't happy. Before anyone says it, I had google generate the passwords so not simple. It was, by all accounts a sophisticated hack. I fought this for a week, trying to find out where all the malicious code was hidden and which files were changed or compromised the worst part was, the code repeatedly replaced the INDEX page with one that directed traffic to a gambling website. At three o'clock this morning I finally declared the server clean.
I have started to rebuild the site, yes I am using Wordpress, no it isn't the most secure, yes I am firewalled up the gazoo AND for belt and braces I am running Immunify 360 on the server so I am pretty confident I will not suffer the same again anytime soon.
So here I am again, getting ready for another run at it and getting my products front and centre, ahead of the competition I hope, we will see.
