Hello,

When creating a Pilar Page for example about Dogs has anyone tried to redirect the category dogs to the Pilar Page or CornerStone Page? I know is recommended to just place categories as noindex but, isn't better to redirect them?

Redirect 301 "Category Dogs" >> "Dogs Pilar Page"

Thanks!

Most seos think it's a bad idea as it tells Google algo that you are gaming the algo by redirecting:
Don't use too many inbound 301 redirects as over time Google Algorithms will realise that OK this website is not creating content rather it's a mess of redirects here and there. This will decrease your website's authority.

May i ask you why are you setting your category pages as noindex?

When you create this type of silo structure with cornerstone pages it is recommend to place categories in noindex to avoid duplicate content since, you are calling category the same way as page.

So, best option is to customize category pages with cornerstone page content, make categories index and remove from URL /category with Yoast Seo Plugin, would that work?

I have no idea what best option will be, there is no best option in my opinion , you have to do research and test it out thats how seo works.
