You're wrong, mate. I have a hashtag that I created and only my account (and its followers) use. I searched that hashtag from an account that has no association to my Instagram page. All of the posts in the results were photos of fans using that hashtag, none of my posts were included. This is exactly what a shadow ban / ghost ban is.

You realise we're talking about viewing the tags when not logged into an account right?

buy 3000likes, ask somone not following and not folowed buy you tha as never been using the same wifi and the same phone tower that is not on your facebook or phone contact or area might lead to a dirent result IMHO...

Do you realise some of us have tested using VPNs and different devices? Apart from that, not showing up in most recent isn't a geo or ip problem bud. That's a shadow ban.
 
I'm sorry, but I don't buy this. IG is constantly updating its algorithms and there could be plenty of reasons why you're not showing up for a certain hashtag. Next week there's going to be a guide on "Getting out of the IG shadowban" for $27 which will be complete nonsense.

I've been averaging 80 new followers a day, but this dropped to <10 in the past few days. Also when I try to create a new instagram account, it says error "Please try again later", even when I use different browsers, clear cookies and switch VPNs.

But when I asked my friend to create a new account and search for my hashtags, he could find my posts. Even when I followed him, he got the notification so he could follow me back.

So I'm a bit confused as to why my follower count has dropped so much in the past few days. Anyone have any ideas?
 
I have been able to grow a profile to 1000 followers in 1 month passively. I've also been able to get 150 in a day with one, that by the second day was barely moving and by the third day was deleted all together. Not sure if this relates but definitely not seeing the volume of traffic even on my 6000+ main.

man, this is not something mechanic imo. I strongly think that a huge portion of your followers is about how your feed looks when a new user browses it. If you have 2-3 powerful/catchy posts and your feed looks heterogeneous, you are in optimal conditions to gain more. When I have shitty posts I lose followers and I have less followers, of course. It's more about the content itself than the algorithmic stuff.

If you want to make sure that it's a shadow ban, then upload a photo with only 1 hashtag and then open a incognito mode on your browser to check if your photo is visible in that specific hashtag. An example for such a hashtag can be your regional hashtag, for example #berlin or something.

This is how to get into private mode for chrome...

Yes, If you look at the top right of the browser next to the search bar click on the Firefox Menu (the symbol with 3 grey lines) and then click 'new private window' a new window will then appear....

Or another way is to press (CTRL + SHIFT + P)

(My OS is Linux and may be different)

The only way we resolved it was by emailing Facebook Concierge direct - yes, they have a link that I was lucky enough able to get from a contact at an media agency (FB Media Partners as well).

After several direct emails - it was lifted. FB / IG never admitted it was shadow banned - I dont think they will ever go on record it exists. They just said they looking into it, and then a few days later - bingo.

Is there a list of restricted/banned hashtags that we shouldn't use? Obviously offensive words aren't welcome...
