Has my site been penalised by Google?

Hi everyone,

I can't find any results for my site when I write:
site:mysite.com

Does that mean my site got a penalty?
And if so, what next?

By the way, the site has been indexed before and is 2.5 years old.

Thanks for any comments.

Try approaching the Google Community for SEO / Adsense and ask any Google staff there.

Am sure they would tell you the appropriate reason on why your site was deindexed.

You could also check your Google Webmaster console, where you have listed your site, they may show up some messages regarding your domain

Just check Webmaster console. It's by far the most easiest and safest way to see if they penalize it or not.

The fist thing you need to do is check search console, and see if you received any Manual actions. That would be a penalty handed out manually by the webspam team. If that's the case you'll need to clean up whatever black hat thing you did, then submit reconsideration requests until they deem you worthy of restoring your rankings.

If there's no manual action, it gets trickier. If your site (or a subset of pages) doesn't appear with a site:mysite.com search, you may have gotten an algorithmic penalty. A similar thing happened to one of my sites - the whole thing didn't disappear, but a subset of pages did.

It turns out it was a negative SEO attack, i.e. someone bombed my site with tons of low quality spammy links. I disavowed thousands of domains, and less than a month later the pages came back to the index.

Of course, it may be neither of these things, and like someone above said maybe there is some technical issue that has gone wrong with your host, or your general site setup.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your advice. I checked my google webmaster console and there is nothing in Manual Actions.
I am now going to write to my host and ask what's going on.

Cheers

Go into webmaster tools and see if google will crawl your URL. If you are not sure how watch this:

If Google can not crawl the URL check your website to see if crawlers might be blocked.

That’s ridiculous, sorry to hear that. Do you mind sharing which hosting company?

Hi, bud. There are two ways to find out if your website was penalized by Google. The first one is through the Google Search Console and the second is by looking at your Google analytics traffic reports and comparing your traffic with the dates the Google updated occurred.

That sounds like the dumbest web hosting company ever.

You can check through google search console to confirm if your site has been penalized. You can also check through google analytics - drop in traffic may mean you are hit.
