As long is google waits links as ranking factor, SEO cannot die. And they have little or no option but to use links as one of the best ranking factors.

Blackseo is thriving, just look up USA tops on "buy viagra online". Gray seo, especially its cheaper part, which was ontopic here for a long time, was hit hard by Google, but still works for smarter people. These people just less and less willing to share what works an what does not. But SERP and backlink analysis show everything anyway.
Also you don't fight against Google, this is wrong mentality. Your opponents are the same webmasters as you who fight for the 10 places on each Google SERP. You needn't win over Google, you just need to be better than your competitors.

Whether you are a blackhat or whitehat SEO, you need quality content, not to increase your rankings but to make sales because poor content won't convert well.

You are right in that there should be no talk about natural linking at least in the blackhat SEO section of this forum. However, sometimes you can't help but advise someone to focus on natural link building methods when you sense that they are faint-hearted members.

Blackhat SEO is not for the faint-hearted. If you can't bear seeing your site slide down to #300 from #2, you don't belong to the blackhat SEO community.

As for the perceived absence of new methods to game Google, Google releases updates quickly to tackle new blackhat methods that go mainstream. So it's better you keep any methods that work for you to yourself, unless you are tired of making money online.

Google hasn't won shit, the only thing they are winning is the propaganda war, lets take the latest PBN update, the thing they do is this, they track the biggest networks and de-index them, almost everybody in the blog/forum community is afraid that heir sites are going to get nuked so they pull their links, Google wins.

Thousands of scared webmasters stop building PBN's because they think Google will get them to, Google wins...

Lets talk about Sape links, Google spread the rumor that Sape links and network are going to get whipped out of the index, sape links will be worthless and if you use Sape you're site is going to be next

Now i have to say a lot of people got burned, Why?? because 99% of the time is it these people are greedy of/and idiots having 50 PR5 links pointed to a payday-loan site is going to get your ass burned, and when that happens these people scream on forums Sape sucks and is very dangerous for your sites and now just a small portion of the webmasters are using and banking with Sape, Google wins.

Let this old man give you a piece of advice, stop reading forums stop reading SEO blogs, because if even 25% of what they all claim Google is capable of was true, none of my sites would have ever ranked, EVER!!!!!

So what you need to do to make it in SEO is test, test, test, the only thing that is speaking the truth are the SERPS and the data you have to get you there.
