i dont know if this method works, but its just a thought. wondering if anyone had tried it?

you register domains very similar to big, busy sites (eg: you register "goole") in the hopes that there are enough idiots that type in domains and spell it incorrectly, bringing you lotsa traffic?

i actually did type in "goole" by mistake, instead of "google"
thats what made me think of it. obviously are enough idiots

what to wounder about it so much?
it's Called TYPOS ,btw -And all the good ones have already been registered-not worth to try to find some google type nowadays!

careful with this trick. one person got into a bit of trouble with the domain, 'microsof' (notice that there's no 't' at the end).

gates and company didn't like that one...

I can't remember where I seen it, but I do believe that I seen something about people getting into hot water by doing this. Memory isn't what it used to be, but I remember reading an article about it, where the company sued and won or something like that. But anyways like so288 said most of them are already taken, and this trick has been around for ages. Take a look around the site, I am sure you will be able to find something that can help you drive traffic, or leech it from someplace else.

One problem with this is that G will try to hijack your traffic by putting "Did you mean this....." right at the the top of the SERPS.

another thing i thought of was optimizing for mis-spelled keywords. The competition must be pretty slim for keywords like "dinner recpes" or "make mney oline"?
maybe use google trends to check out which spelling mistakes get googled the most?

That will only work for words and phrases that Google doesn't recognize such as a new/unique product name. Otherwise it will show the "did you mean:______" message which I'm sure 95% of people click on.

You just have to be clever when choosing how to do this and research beforehand so you know if it will work or not.

Another thing...type-ins are pretty hard to come by for the most popularly searched sites. I swear there are people on all day just picking them clean. It would work, however, if you can beat the competition to an up and coming site's misspelling. Best of luck.
