With over 400,000 views on Quora here is my little take on it.

Traffic on Quora does not really convert when it has to do with affiliate programs. Maybe 10% do if you're lucky.
But on Google, 80+% converts. Why?
Because people coming to Google to enter a search term wants to solve a problem.

But on Quora?
Most times they just read through answers on their timeline.
I have used Quora to get over 20k blog Posts views but my affiliate earnings? Almost zero.

The point is, use Quora to build an authority + relevance.
When you do, grab the emails of your audience, nurture them before they become paying customers. However, if you have ads then good.

On Google
I already made $11+$25 from a traffic of less than 500.

Biggest lesson.
Do everything possible to be ranked on Google. Even though you're on page 2 you can always figure out how to jump to page 1.

Quora can enhance that as well + using anchor links of your "keyword" throughout each blog post.

On Quora?
You're taking answers to those not really in need.

On Google?
Those in need of answers find you.

Wow. Impressive research.
Thank you. It helps. Especially taking into account that I am working on Quora crowd comments.

Thanks for this insightful share, certainly valuable information for anyone thinking of using Quora for traffic. I completely agree with you, but I think the reason Quora is still worth it is that it is a free source of traffic, so if you are on a budget it can be a good way to gain exposure at no cost, because SEO always comes at a hefty price specially in this day and age, so using Quora as a mean to help any project take off and then build up your SEO to gain traction on Google would be the way to go for me.

Thanks again for the awesome share!

Quora doesn't generally convert for anything. The ad impressions don't turn into revenue, the views won't fetch upvotes and the affiliate links are mostly ignored. The platform is mostly used for time pass and most of the users don't care about any content.

Thanks for this, at least I know I do not have to market to them right off the bat. Since that is the case, I guess your best bet is to get them into your list by offering them a lead magnet. Thereafter, you could nurture, and then market all sorts of stuffs to them. To make this even more effective, you could get them to opt-in to your facebook messenger list, instead of the traditional autoresponder list, as this would guarantee a higher open rate.

Yeap, that´s pretty much I see Quora. I never looked at it as a way to make money directly by posting affiliate links. Even though I´ve made a couple of affiliate sale there and I haven´t posted on a couple of months my answers still gets thousands of views...

Good share. I'm only baffling with how to get backlinks. It seems difficult. All the people I'm teaching out to for guest post are only requesting for money.

Proves how important buyer intent keywords is, in a way. Good share, thanks!
Like OP says, the reason is because the person is further down the search intent funnel. Here's a picture that describes it quite well. Quora would be at the top, search with buyer intent would be at the bottom. Lower traffic levels with high buy intent = $$$. Smart SEO's know this :)

Good share. Thanks.
