"Hard" ban question

Was unsure of where to post this, sorry if this is the wrong section.

1. When you get banned from X site, assuming it's a "hard" ban (not only your account), what exactly is that they are banning? Account, IP, device.. What else? I've read about "user agent" but I don't know what that is.

2. Say you want to get unbanned from a strict site that uses a "hard" ban on you, what exactly do you change and how do you go about it? VPN, VPS, proxy.. if mobile, phone ID, IMEI.. what else?

You can't be sure what information they collect about you. This can be browser(version, installed plugins, screen resolution etc..)
system - if they have access to you hardware like with android app for example - almost anything can be used to make fingerprint. So just change as much as you can in your system.

easiest way is use another system or try clearing browser / cookies
and try some proxies.

They can't ban user-agents because this is a common way of identifying browsers and devices. For example of Chrome browsers on a Galaxy S9 have the same UA and there are million of Galaxy S9 devices out there. So user-agent is not a reliable ban and nobody will enforce it.

However, a ban depends from website to website. If we take Wordpress security plugins as an example, a website can ban you based on:

1. Your account - easiest thing to do
2. Your history (cookies saved in your browser)
3. Your IP address
4. The referral website that send you to this website
5. Your browsing profile (nobody tracks user-agents for blocking, but they can use them together with your IP address, device, screen-size, cookies to fingerprint you and create user browsing profiles - which in turn can be used to track and block your access).

The easiest way is to navigate privately (incognito) and access the website. If you are not allowed, in means that they blocked your IP address. So yous should hide your IP. In which case, for personal use, it's best to use a VPN. But you can also use a proxy directly in your browser.

Also, if you want to unblock only one website, do not go buying a VPN or proxy. You can use Opera free VPN, which will tunnel your traffic to their vpn server and will display another IP as well

It's not that hard to get unbanned. You can use a proxy or VPN.

Depends on what Info they are collecting.

In most cases it is probably only :

• IP
• Browser
• Browser Info
• Operating System
• Location
• User Agent

If we are talking about big corporation websites such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter then you have to be a little bit smarter than just changing your IP, etc.
I would assume they are collecting a shitton of Info that gets linked to each account, mentioned all the things above +

• Exact Location
• History of Locations
• Uploaded Media
• Info on the Media Uploaded
• etc.

Im not sure how much this fits here, but in certain Video Games there is something thats called a HWID (Hardware ID Ban) where they basically get your MAC Adress (which is Hard encoded in the network card). Thats another possible thing that these Big corporations might be logging.
