I have seen many people looking for this question at some point during their learning or implementation phase. I too had looked up a lot when I was implementing a similar case for a client and he wanted to target a specific part of his website in a different region. Well I am not a professional writer so kindly avoid spell checks and sentencing issues, enough of chat lets get to business –
The question we all have is “How to rank a particular page, a particular section of a website in the different region”.
Suppose you have a website currently targeting in “United Kingdom” and you have a Keyword suppose “Keyword A” which has “Keyword Difficulty = 30” and Searches of “5K monthly” in “United Kingdom”, Now the same “Keyword A” has different specs in “United States” let’s say “Keyword Difficulty = 50” and searches of “10K monthly”.
Here is a quick implementation which you can use to rank your Article for Keyword A in United States –
I will start from Initial and if someone is just planning to start a website, he can try this as well.
If you are starting off, or you are looking to target multiple countries then you can opt for sub-domain setup.
Pros:
You will have separate traces of traffic source as per targeted countries.
Cons:
Your DA will break down and won’t flow towards the single domain.
If you want to setup this use-case, try using something like this –
Hope you got the picture, rest set up multiple sites pages accordingly. This method is recommended only if you are going to target a whole lot of pages (Don’t bother this if you are targeting 1-10 pages I guess that won’t make sense).
We all know “hreflang=” header tags? Go for it. Define for each page which language it is defined for. Even for English pages, we must define “hreflang=en-us” or for uk “hreflang=en-gb”. Here is an example –
For English Language and the United Kingdom as target country -
For English Language and Mexico as target country -
You can generate Hreflang tags on below URL, if you are confused how to do it correctly –
But remember, You need to implement this for better targeting and make sure you do sitewide not only on a single page you want to target.
This I suppose is the widely asked question amount, everyone here is a quick setup which will help you in that as well.
Suppose, your sites currently target in the United Kingdom and now you want to target page test.php in Mexico. Then you need to make sure of the following points to be sure you target the current audience and reach the correct place –
This won’t rank your website in a single day but will really help you grow in a specific country. Apart from this you can manipulate the strategy as per your skills and share with us here.
This was my first detailed thread, Hope you guys like it. Feel free to share your test results and feedback if this can be improved more further. I tried to cover mostly all of it as much as I have implemented and learned, but who knows. There is always room for more
