Migrating from Blogger to WordPress

In the initial stages. I built a website from Blogger as an experiment. And to understand all the things about creating websites freely. Suddenly, After two years my blogger has Increased in some way and is catching up with the Visitors. without knowing about the flip side. I happen to grow blogger at a high level, Later. Realize that bloggers have a lot of. Difficulties. In order to grow. In SEO side.

I'm trying to move blogger to Worpress but it's not easy at that time which is quite complicated and I had a Custom domain too. I was in the situation like Either I had to build a new one Or continue with Blogger. This story has continued for almost five years. Once again now I'm trying to Move from being a blogger to wordpress. This time I'm successful. I migrated almost 3 bloggers to wordpress without losing any visitors. or any SEO factors?

I have documented all those things step by step. So people get the idea about how to migrate from Blogger To WordPress which is having a custom domain. Some of the websites. has already written about this process but its not working properly. It required some changes. To make it happen 100%.

I have given the step by step guide with some pictures to help you guys.

Change the Domain DNS setting from BLOGGER to new hosting.

  1. Login into admin.Google.com
  2. Goto Domains and “Manage domain”. Click view Details.
  3. Click Advanced DNS settings.
  4. There you will see the login information to change the DNS settings including login link.

This must be either Godaay link or ENON link.

There update your new DNS information.

Most of the guides used the plugin called Blogger Importer, but has a lot of problems with that, it's not uploading pages and pictures. Also Not creating the Permalinks perfectly matches with our existing links.

So I researched further and found a new plugin called Blogger importer extended.

Uploading Process using Blogger imported Extended Plugin

Go to plugins sections And find out. “Blogger importer extended” plugin. Install this plugin. And I recommended going for the paid version because it doesn't have the limit of 20.

Making this plugin export to. All the posts, including pages and all the images, videos too. Also, you don't need to create the permalink for Each and every post. It will be taken care of by This plugin automatically. This is a nearly wonderful tool compared to any other tool because it saves lots of time. The main advantage is. It creates the exact permalink which you are using in the Blogger.

After installation, go to this plugin and. “Run importer” to import our blogger file which is from Blogger

Click unlimited License and And provide the license number for pursuit. Once you enter the license number, You'll be asked to Enter the blogger ID. If you don't know what is black ID, click the example Find out what is a Blogger ID. so get your Blogger ID and click the submit button.

Click the import button and start relaxing. It will automatically download all the post, comments and media. It will take one to five minutes depending on the size. But it will bring all the documents whatever you need for wordpress.

That's it, you got all the files from blogger TO word press. Now you have to. Do an important thing. That is changing the permalinks.in the settings.

No go to wordpress settings and Click permalinks. Under there choose custom structure. And make the permalinks like the below. Picture.

Now all your posts will have the same URL. As you have. In the blogger.

Download and Install Redirection Plugin for Redirection

Pages of Blogger need to be redirect as it has different URL structure

Another important thing. We need to take care of the pages of the Blogger. For pages, blogger different URL structures which we cannot replicate In WordPress. To handle that. Download the redirection plugin in our WordPress. And list all over blogger Pages URL and redirect to current WordPress URL that will solve our problem. See the plugin details.

Nice guide mate and it should be useful for a lot of people who are stuck on blogger. It's never a bad thing if you can move from sites like blogger, to WordPress as its a far more flexible platform.

Good guide thanks, feel sorry for anyone on blogger, and this is a good way to help them see the light.

Nice share and thanks for the content

Great guide, this will be helpful for multiple members for sure :)
although, maybe changing DNS and removing the domain from blogger should be the last part to avoid any down time

Thanks for your words mate. The reason I suggested changing the DNS before moving the domain from blogger, then only we can enable or install the WordPress in our hosting platform under that domain name.

Hosting company usually expect domain DNS pointing to their host server.

another thing we can do its changing it to https as blogger dont have this option for custom domain. I had changed to https but it got some problem in search engine. I will do research and post here.

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://domain.com//$1 [R=301,L]

To enable redirection of http to https , we need to put the above code into .htaaccess file.

Its working perfectly, Now my domain got secure and would be good signal to google seo.

another problem occurs as blogger has different link for mobile indexing usually ends with m=1. to redirect all these the links to regular link add these code into htaaccess file.

RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} m=1
RewriteRule (.*) /$1? [R=301,NE,L]

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://domain.com//$1 [R=301,L]

To enable redirection of http to https , we need to put the above code into .htaaccess file.
This can be done by easily in the redirection site option itself. Check it out.
