Who is your target, really? I don't see how businesses not got their own website, almost each firm here has a site running even though it's one of the worst.

Excellent post, daisy. I have an online store, and am very much into offline marketing lately. I am loving direct mail with coupons. We can't just rely on online marketing. Google is too tempermental.

I will try to dominate denstist niche in my country. Small country and I dont have big competitior

So yeah. Should i sell site for dentists or get leads and let them pay $20 - $60 per lead ?

One question - How do you get your offline affiliates... is it through Craigslist, or something different? And are you testing any of these people before they get access to the info...or is it kinda like straight up affiliates like a Clickbank scenario?

For the dudes who asked about the offline affiliates, I easily got over 50 people applying by posting that on my Facebook (some friends shared it etc) and having a section for "Work with us" on the business website.

I think the main thing is to offer a package where the client doesn't have much room to ask for more crap.. unless you really can code. but even then it's still going to be a nightmare.. and I wouldn't offer to do anything unless they were paying over your package price.

basically get rid of the hagglers ahead of time to cause yourself less hassle.

I tried this in the past when I wasn't really confident in myself.. but sold a site to a local counseling place for opiate addiction.. I only charged them 75$ for setup and 50$ monthly for hosting charges and any changes they'd need. I mainly did this because it was my first site and I went there myself. It was only a small info site 3 or 4 pages I think, and I never even did any SEO for them.. they paid for about 6 months and then the business had a bunch of stuff happen and they stopped paying so I just shut it down.

I also put up another site completely free for a good friend that runs a local putt putt place.. and did a little bit of onsite SEO, but never did any offsite.. because he didn't really even seem interested in it.. I still have it up though.

he referred me to another local business at the same mall where his putt putt place is (I work at the putt putt place on saturdays) and they contacted me about setting up a shopping cart website for them. I quoted them 800$ and they said all others had quoted them 1500-2000 for it. but we had 2 meetings and they seemingly went well.. or so I thought. they had mentioned getting traffic to their site.. and I got a little excited about everything and talked about helping them with their facebook page and SEO (in more friendly terms) for no initial cost. kinda happy it didn't work out.. looking back. lol. but anyways.. After the 2 additional meetings I went to meet him Monday morning to receive the check and he never showed.. was even late to open his business that day. I left him a voicemail and went home assuming something came up since he was late to his work as well.. waited a week and contacted him again. no answer.. kinda got pissed at this point and didn't really want to work with him anymore anyways. about 3 weeks later I saw him walking down the exit hallway as I was standing outside smoking.. I held the door open for him and he walked past me really fast without even saying hi or thanks.. and I didn't even say a word to him. just thought to myself wow.

I don't know why I started ranting about all that.. but anyways. I plan to eventually try and start doing something like this with a package instead of just going and asking them what they want and having my brain malfunction.

a lot of local businesses don't have websites.. they don't really see the point if they only have one location. that's where your sales pitch comes in to play.. and for the sales pitch I would use some stuff from here, just change it around: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/blackhat-lounge/430048-reputation-management.html

What are you telling the clients here about viral videos? Because "trying" to make a viral video is 99% of the time a fail. The most 10 expensive cars in a country is not going to get you a viral video unless you get extremely lucky. So what do you tell them when this video does not go viral and you've made it out to be the most important aspect of the package?

I'm kind of surprised when you mention that you target bigger businesses that can afford a $5k budget. Where do you live? Here in the U.S. it feels like every Tom, Dick, and Harry has a website of their own. Even if it is terribly optimized, mom and pop shops have them. Obviously there are a number that do not, but the big corps definitely do.

I'll have to add this to my bag of tricks when I hit the offline circuit.

Same here man. I have been trying to get a web design service up for a while and haven't had much luck. The market is crowded with even the big boys offering 'guaranteed' SEO services.

But the thing is, that when someone wants to apply and start promoting my service, I send him to a page in my business website, where they have to fill some stuff. After that, I give them a "Custom flier" that they can just print and spread like hell.

This "Custom flier" includes a custom ID number, and we always ask the people who call us about the custom ID number that they see in the flier (mention in the flier that they'll need the ID number).

Each of our affiliates has a custom ID number. So this way, we can track and reward the affiliates accordingly.

How the hell are you getting people to pay 5k for that? What kind of openings do you do? Meetings etc?

I'm becoming more skeptical about this guy, he is passing on answering a few questions and he has a flashy image+link in his signature somewhat related to his post.

Each time i see people talk about how they make their load of money, i only see how easy and tricky it is. You only to put on your thinking cap to make money whether online or offline.

Why look down upon wordpress? Its so much better than Drupal and Joomla. Even the premade themes if you are building a good site takes a lot of hours when you are customizing it. You don't realize it does take time because you are so used to doing it all and because of the second nature of it you think its easy, but look at the clock next time from start to finish.

I get a lot of clients that can't afford the custom theme price, and I sometimes filter them towards a pre=made - customized template instead. Still around the same amount or even more work because the different themes may have different shortcodes, different admins, none of the above so you have to create your own functions, etc etc...

I applaud the op for being able to weed out the lookie loos and scaling up with affiliates.
