This is mainly for the new people coming into the forum since it's pretty basic but I'm sure it can still help out some more senior members.

After creating an article on your website the first thing that comes to mind is backlinks. When I was broke and starting out I didn't have much cash so I started reading into finding other ways to boost your SERP results in Google. I've always been a pretty decent writer so I write most of my articles and I'm really familiar with my niche so that improves the CTR when users land on the page.

You're going to want to download the plugin Keywords Everywhere. Google it and you'll find the plugin links.

It's available in both Firefox and Chrome for free. It shows you the Google monthly search results under your search query and also related keywords on the side. That's what we're going to be paying attention to.

For this example I'll use the search term "chew toys for baby pitbulls"

As you can see we get a list of related keywords on the right.

So I got my website about pitbulls and my post about Chew Toys for Baby Pitbulls talking about different types of chew toys, price points, reviews, videos, etc.

By using the related keywords and people also searched sections, I can see low competition, long-tail search terms that I can create content for and link back to my main post. Using the keyword in the title, H1, tags, alt image description, as well include other keywords found on the list in the article.

Also pay attention to the section "People also last" in the second photo. Make sure to include those in your main article when you are writing it.

For example use the search term "homemade chew toys for pit bulls" found on the side to create your supporting article.

Homemade Chew Toys for Pit Bulls

Everyone knows pit bulls are famous for their powerful jaws, even as puppies. Many chew toys from the stores break apart and only last a couple of days before being completely destroyed. Learn how to make the toughest chew toys for pitbulls with this easy guide!

5 Easy Homemade Chew Toys for Pitbulls

Etc, etc, more filler content as well as an outbound link to both a relevant high authority page and your main post.

After publishing your new post go ahead and index it and it should rank in Google purely on the low competition.

Do the same thing with other related keywords and you will build long-term relevance for your site as well as bring in traffic from these long-tail search terms!

Any questions please reply here so everyone can join in and learn. This forum has taught me everything I know about SEO and without it I would probably be working some 9-5. I don't care who you are if you are willing to fail and go all in you can make it. But sadly only 1% of those who come into the forum will take action beyond just reading method and case studies.

Simple but extremely useful advice. Often people skip out on content like this and just focus on money pages. Which is not good for the long run as you don't create that level of relevance and authority.

You can also pair this with the Keyword Golden Ratio method.

Find keywords under 250 searches. Do a search for the following:

allintitle:your keyword phrase under 250 searches.

Take note of the number of results. Then, divide number of results by search volume. For example lets say your phrase is "how do i find a groomer for my pitbull" and it gets 210 searches a month. Allintitle brings up just 15 results. 15/210 = 0.07. This is a made up term. I have no idea if it even gets searched. Just a made up example.

0.00-0.25 is a golden keyword. Should rank easily
0.26-1.00 can still rank but a little harder
    1+ not so easy.

The example of 0.07 would be a great keyword to write an article on. Find the top ranking result. See how many words it has and improve it by making your article longer, more detailed, pictures, videos etc.

Can read more about it on the original posts here. Doug also has some good YouTube video playlist on the KGR method.

Thanks for your input! Yes I've seen that ratio before like 2 years ago when I first started out. After a while you can kind of spot easy keywords but good way to get started with keyword competition.

Exactly! KW research is certainly an art. I've been doing it for 2 years now for Amazon affiliate and have gotten good at it but it's amazing how many new techniques and tips are out there that are new to me. I like to constantly keep learning and improving my skills.

Some tools I like to use that help me are keyword shitter, answer the public and ahrefs. Ahrefs is insane and under appreciated imo for keyword research you don't really hear it talked about. It's the best keyword research tool imo.
