This is mainly for the new people coming into the forum since it's pretty basic but I'm sure it can still help out some more senior members.
After creating an article on your website the first thing that comes to mind is backlinks. When I was broke and starting out I didn't have much cash so I started reading into finding other ways to boost your SERP results in Google. I've always been a pretty decent writer so I write most of my articles and I'm really familiar with my niche so that improves the CTR when users land on the page.
You're going to want to download the plugin Keywords Everywhere. Google it and you'll find the plugin links.
It's available in both Firefox and Chrome for free. It shows you the Google monthly search results under your search query and also related keywords on the side. That's what we're going to be paying attention to.
For this example I'll use the search term "chew toys for baby pitbulls"
As you can see we get a list of related keywords on the right.
So I got my website about pitbulls and my post about Chew Toys for Baby Pitbulls talking about different types of chew toys, price points, reviews, videos, etc.
By using the related keywords and people also searched sections, I can see low competition, long-tail search terms that I can create content for and link back to my main post. Using the keyword in the title, H1, tags, alt image description, as well include other keywords found on the list in the article.
Also pay attention to the section "People also last" in the second photo. Make sure to include those in your main article when you are writing it.
For example use the search term "homemade chew toys for pit bulls" found on the side to create your supporting article.
Homemade Chew Toys for Pit Bulls
Everyone knows pit bulls are famous for their powerful jaws, even as puppies. Many chew toys from the stores break apart and only last a couple of days before being completely destroyed. Learn how to make the toughest chew toys for pitbulls with this easy guide!
5 Easy Homemade Chew Toys for Pitbulls
Etc, etc, more filler content as well as an outbound link to both a relevant high authority page and your main post.
After publishing your new post go ahead and index it and it should rank in Google purely on the low competition.
Do the same thing with other related keywords and you will build long-term relevance for your site as well as bring in traffic from these long-tail search terms!
Any questions please reply here so everyone can join in and learn. This forum has taught me everything I know about SEO and without it I would probably be working some 9-5. I don't care who you are if you are willing to fail and go all in you can make it. But sadly only 1% of those who come into the forum will take action beyond just reading method and case studies.
