if I have to make guest post backlink then which page it should link: home page or ranking page or any other page.
What should be the anchor text for the maximum result?

If your guest post is talking about orange pencils, you're going to want it linking to a related page:
  1. Example: Why are pencils orange?
  2. Example: 5 Reasons why pencils are orange!
Basically, you want your page to appear like the source or additional info about the information from the guest post.

If your website is mainly about pencils, you can link both your homepage and articles.
If your website is a broad niche, you want to link it to the article related to orange pencils.

Just another noob advice from me. Cheers!

If you want to target your products, then the inner page. Else you can strengthen the homepage. LSI and an exact match are fine.

IMO it highly depends what you're guest posting about. According to my experience, informational guest post works best to the inner pages that have similar or complementary content. Example is like i have a post about types of cats, the guest post would several couple popular types eg. British Shorthair, etc,etc that links to the list post about cat types.

On the other hand, brand reviews or best of lends itself to homepage links. Example is if i have a blog about geography study materials, my guest post would be about where to learn geography, where to learn geography online, the best online learning platform, etc, etc.

So basically it's all about context and what you're guest post is about tbh.
*CMIIW guys, this is based on my (relatively short) experience in the world of IM

Your home page itself will likely rank for only two things one your specific target keyword, your company name as your home page shows when a visitor navigates to your primary domain URL, doesn’t access any subpages , Your ranking page works by counting the number and quality of links to a page to determine a rough estimate of how important the website is and its all depends on your target

Like others pointed out, relevancy matters the most when it comes to getting maximum benefit for our guest posts.

Also, if you are publishing guest posts on news sites or magazines, go for the homepage since it gives a great exposure for your brand.

I will try to get couple of backlinks on the same post to my clients, one to homepage and the other to an inner relevant page. Make sure you are doing this in a natural way otherwise it will look promotional.

You can not stick with one method when it comes to link building. You need to see the guest post sites is relevant to which page of your site. What kind of content you are going to use? How many backlinks ratio you have for your pages? Which page you are looking to rank? These all matters.

Page you rank of course that would have slipped to inner page right or it’ll slip to inner page

At start getting backlinks to the homepage is good, later you can build to inner pages. Exact and partial match anchor works well.

Send it to your inner page and go with an exact/partial match anchor text. One, two or even three links won't do anything to your site.

If you send it to your homepage, you risk diluting it's effect to the point that you may feel you have wasted your money.

To the page, you want to rank and make money

If you want to target a inner page then go for inner..and keyword should be LSI you can use your main keyword for what you want to rank and also can use generic keywords
