Hey everyone, long time lurker finally deciding to post.
For a while, I've wanted to pursue creating a faceless / cash cow youtube channel. " if only I had a bit more free time, blah blah blah " I kept telling myself and now I do.

Like everyone else on here I've been inspired by the person that's on the s-list :D also a few other people who used the same method with their own twists added.

They are plenty of people starting cash cow channels whilst outsourcing majority of the process to somebody else.
This will be my first YouTube channel that I will be doing everything all by myself, the now old fashioned way. So research, script, voiceovers, video creation and editing, uploading, metadata & optimization. It'll be a trial and error learning process but it'll making getting success even sweeter.

February plan:

The plan for this month is very simple, my main focus will be pushing content. I will publish 2 videos everyday this month set around 8-16 hours apart from each other.
I've already created 10/56 videos I just need to work on the metadata for them.

I will not post my channel or it's niche for obvious reasons.

Pre-Monetization Channel Statistics:

Channel was created July, 2015
Subscribers: 134
Views: 7.001
Watchtime: 3,495
Videos: 5

Software I will be using:

Adobe Photoshop 2021
Audacity
Vegas Pro 17
Vidiq Pro
Notion + Excel
Anything else that streamline the process

Goals:

[] Getting Monetized
[] Creating a stable workflow to produce videos consistently
[] Everything after this is a success
Until the channel is monetized and get more data it wouldn't be worthwhile to set a monetary goal.

To-do List:
  • Comment on other people's videos in the same niche
  • Setup Notion Board for better tracking
  • Excel Sheet for Keywords/Video Ideas
  • Social media profile/s
  • Channel Branding ( Avatar, Logo, Banner, Intro and Outro)
  • Get a domain and setup a site "to look professional"
Early Problems:

  1. Whoever said you don't need a decent PC to make videos for YouTube was lying! Exporting videos to a good quality on my computer can take 40 minutes or longer. During that time I can't even do anything in the background!
  2. Getting to the subscriber threshold might be a waiting game.

I will be posting on this thread journal style everyday.
If you have any questions feel free to ask however if have any advice, tips and tricks definitely comment.

All the best guys, hope you have an amazing February.

Ha ha I recogize myself in the process of exporting the video... very long task if you don’t have a good computer.

How long will your videos be?

Good Luck!
Currently 8 minutes to 16 minutes. Thanks!

Good luck my brother. What is your niche?

Update 001

I uploaded and published 2 videos today. I know it's early to be looking at channel analytics but I noticed something weird.

1643766981024.png

I might have to change my approach to my videos to my current small audience. It's something I didn't expect at all, I thought it would be Male & 13-17 years old as the majority.

Other then content creation I commented on a few smaller niche channels, some of them instantly subscribed and I subscribed back in good faith.
I finished doing my keyword research on an excel spreadsheet for the month even though half of them are high competition they are relevant to channel and if anything I could appear in a bigger channel's recommendations.

Pre-Monetization Channel Statistics:
Subscribers: 146(+12)
Watchtime: 3,505(+10)
Videos: 7(+2)
Unpublished Videos: 10(+2)

To-do List:
  • Comment on other people's videos in the same niche ( Continuous )
  • Setup Notion Board for better tracking
  • Excel Sheet for Keywords/Video Ideas
  • Social media profile/s
  • Channel Branding ( Avatar, Logo, Banner, Intro and Outro)
  • Get a domain and setup a site "to look professional"
  • Make a generic thumbnail Template to save time

You may want to use a video platform that allows you to edit and render your videos in there, cause it takes a lot of time in HQ and lots of resources if done in your computer.
Best of luck with your journey op

Thank you for sharing, and good luck on your journey. I am doing this same myself - the old-fashioned way. If you would like to chat or ask for help, feel free to reach out.

Your plan looks solid. Good luck to your journey! :)

You are right that a decent PC is needed for video editing. The PC should be supported by a high level Graphics card.

Seriously its not easy

Which gpus are you using to render ??
Nothing special, just a 4GB GTX 1050 Ti

Thanks! Do you recommend any platforms that do this?

I hope so too! But even learning about the whole YouTube process is a good result for me.
looking forward to see results

Yeah! But it seems so easy, plenty of successful channels we probably watch and think "I could do better then them" but don't see all the hardwork they put in.

Update 002 - Day 5.

First Big Mistake
So I decided to try something incredibly stupid in hindsight - that is to sleep 5 hours a day. So I could do everything in my personal life and get back to grinding on this YouTube channel. Just ended up completely ruining my sleeping routine

1644029154138.png

The first day wasn't so bad, but the content I've produced was absolutely terrible. So as much as I want to keep the content mill running, I had a friend of mine review them for me just for a second opinion in comparison to everything else.
Which made me decide delete those videos( 6 in total) just start afresh.

Views
As well as reviewing the bad batch, I had them review my current videos despite getting good feedback. I'm still disappointed with their current views. I might just be impatient, however I'm going throw out more clickbait/cliche thumbnails.

The Weekend
Woooo! It's the weekend! For me this means I'll have more time to work on the smaller tasks on my to-do list, watch some tutorials and try spend more time creating videos.

Domain/Website
So I haven't talked about this part yet, with nothing else interesting happening at this point it'll be a good chance. When I was researching other faceless channels one of them had a simply. I put it into semrush to my surprise with little no backlinks, little content or DA they had 3 KWs ranking in top 3.

So you had a video showing up in search results and then below it was an article talking about the same video with it embedded. Not the same content but here's an example:
1644031354291.png

In addition to that they talk about the channel in further detail, who they are and why they run it. I think as a faceless channel creating a website like this can make you more professional. If you have a monetary focus people are more likely to contact you(for sponorships) by having a website then just an email below your description.

At-least that's my line of thought for creating one. Not mandatory for the success of the channel, though it could be that little extra that could push it's growth on and off youtube.

Pre-Monetization Channel Statistics:
