Imagine you have unlimited funds to build a niche site from scratch. How would you build to start making money as fast as possible from organic traffic?
Please don't say things like I'll spend $1 million for 10000 articles and buy every SEO service available.

It should be fastest and best way, but with realistic results. For example you spend $2000 on articles, $1000 on SEO services, and you expect the site to earn $1000 a month in 3 months.

What kind and how long articles would you buy? Is there are particular service you would use? Which SEO and backlink services would you spend the money on?
Would you spend money on it every month for extra articles? If yes, how much?

If you had unlimited funds it would be better to purchase a website that was already earning but still had room for growth.
These sorts of threads are pointless as it would depend on the niche and market, are you creating an authority site, an e-commerce store an affiliate site, etc?
Also with unlimited funds you would create an in-house team to create content and carry out SEO.

Any site that will get organic traffic from SEO. Your goal is to make money as soon as possible. It's not like you invest 1 million dollars to have it sold 10 years later for 50 million.

So are you asking for a niche? You need to clarify your question.

I'd buy a little marketplace called Amazon, I've heard on the grapevine it's a good earner.

Question is: How would you spend your money to earn as much as possible in as little time as possible, to have a positive ROI in no more than a year.
You can't use cash for marketing (buying ads).
You use it for outsourcing work.

I would purchase social media sites like IG or facebook pages, and drive traffic towarsd niche specific landing pages (maybe also purchase a few that are already build an have traffic).

We are in 2018 now, every niche is in huge competition sadly. Yes, there are still a lot of easy keywords, but those keywords cant be made up a very "large" niche sites, so its very hard to decide the plan. Either you spend huge money going to compete with big players, or you go small, but those sites hard to expand to a large one. But still, if you say "as fast as possible"

1) find a very large niche, say Health:

Dig a shit load of keywords all with xxx searches and still have spots for you. Write a shit load of high quality contents, use all your left money to buy Guest Post or authority links.

2) build a general site like Ezinearticles, and buy a shit load of contents write for those "none-competition shit keywords" and use all your left money to buy Guest Post or authority links to make it into a brand.

3) like said above by other: buy an established site.

4) forget the site. Put all your money into the bank, you earn from your first day.

Wouldn't it be better to outrank the not so competitive niche sites with more articles and better content that has more words per article?
For example you see a website that reviews Espresso machines. It has 50 reviews and 100 information articles. I could buy 80 review articles and 150 information articles and outrank it right?

buy established site, or check of sites that have great ranking but are going to get dropped soon, and built it from there.

By buying established Websites positive ROI won't be possible for at least 2 years.
For example here's a website sold in the past month on Flippa for $60K. It has an average profit of $1,8K per month. The multiplier is 32,38. It means it will take the buyer ~33 months to make the money back if the website earns the same money every month. Link: https://flippa.com/9737528-lacrossescoop-com

That site is really not worth 60k
Well someone bought it. There are many examples, just by looking the first one's that come up in search by sold.
https://flippa.com/9714824-doublemesh-com - multiplier 27
https://flippa.com/9699326-guitarkitworld-com - multiplier 30
https://flippa.com/9698183-bestapbooks-com - multiplier 25
https://flippa.com/9555384-wirelessdogfenceguide-com - multiplier 20
https://flippa.com/9384732-coffeemakerchoose-com - multiplier 28
and so on...

If I have $1 mil, I'd consider building a brand instead. Just like RTM (the coupon site), when they initially started, do you know that they did large scale link purchasing and things got started off from there?
I'd purchase reviews and interviews from news sites like cnn, etc, and request them to specifically use an anchor text to link back to my site, and those type of links are superior and well worth the money.

First, I'll get a really good web designer who can help me create a stunning website, then I'll hire maybe 2 or 3 writers who can write good articles for me. I'll also find myself an assistant or maybe two to help me build up my traffic, and probably hire an SEO service to help me create quality backlinks as well.

With such expenses how long do you think it would take to break even? Because you'll spend money every month

I would be very happy if I can break even after 6 months, but 1 year is a realistic goal in my opinion.

The problem is not on the content length or your competition but rather than the time to get your site ranked. Imo, it takes at least a good 3-4 months to rank a site. Sometimes it takes longer. And you will not make money right away from there, but gradually. 6-7 months is a good indication. There's no fastest way in SEO especially when you're looking for a long term money making.
